JLI Teens Kicks Off “Israel 3D” in 50 Cities Worldwide
The Rohr Jewish Learning Institute’s newest JLI Teens course, Israel 3-D, recently kicked off in 50 cities across the globe with a screening of a brand new live action video series called “Israel 3-D Road Trip”.
Hosted by Zev Jacobson of Israel Maven Tours, the Israel 3-D Road Trip welcomed students along for a six-part virtual tour of Israel to explore its cities and important regions bringing some of the ideas from the class to life.
The first stop was Be’er Sheva and the Negev. Zev and his film crew toured the area’s ancient ruins as well as it modern infrastructure, showcasing the region’s role as an exporter of ideas from the time of Avraham, who introduced the notion of one G-d, until today, where some of the world’s first commercial solar power fields are being built.
The second episode took students on journey to Tiberias and the Sea of Galilee and focused on Israel’s lack of abundant water resources which illustrates the Jewish nation’s constant need for rain and dependence to turn to G-d.
JLI Teens courses are built on a strong academic base, but also integrate multi-media and activities into the curriculum to be attractive to teenagers. “The road-trip is an integral part of the course, enabling Israel to come off the pages of the textbook, out of the history vault, and enter into the hearts and minds of Jewish youth, changing their perspective and relationship with the land and their heritage” says Rabbi Benny Rapoport, the Director of JLI Teens.
Israel 3-D was developed specifically for high school students and takes a deeper approach to learning about the land of Israel. The course explores a number of challenging issues designed to spark passion and critical thought amongst participants, including, why does Judaism need a homeland? What does it mean that Israel is a “holy” land? What right do we have to the land of Israel? Is there a media bias against Israel? What is the solution for peace in the Middle East?
JLI Teens invites you to travel to Hebron with us. Here’s a sneak preview of Israel 3D Road Trip Episode 3:
