Jewish Philanthropist Celebrates Birth of Baby With $2 Million Gift to Chabad Shluchim
Mr. Gennady Bogolubov, a major supporter of Chabad activities, has made a $2 million gift to Chabad representatives, to be disbursed in individual stipends to all Shluchim in time for Rosh Hashana.
Announced by Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky of Lubavitch Headquarters, the gift was made through the Bogolubov Simcha Fund, dedicated to assisting Chabad representatives during their respective family life-cycle events.
This gift was inspired by the birth of Mr. Bogolubov’s baby daughter.
“Mr. Bogolubov has participated now in thousands of simchas of Shluchim. With the birth of his baby daughter,” said Rabbi Kotlarsky, who established the fund through the offices of Merkos, the Chabad-Lubavitch educational division, “he chose to have the Shluchim join his simcha through making gifts to them.”
Mr. Bogolubov, is president of the Dnepropetrovsk Jewish Community. Through his close friendship with his rabbi, Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetzki of Dnepropeterovsk, he became a household name within Chabad after he founded the Bogolubov Simcha Fund in 2008, established with $10 million dollars in 2008.
Dnepropetrovsk, [formerly Yekatrinslav] is the city where the Rebbe was raised, and where his father served as chief rabbi.
To date, the fund disbursed gifts on the occasion of 3952 simchas—among them weddings, bar mitzvahs, baby births of Chabad Shluchim.
This guy is amazing!
maybe he can dump some money into Beis Rivka, this way the teachers can get paid, they can open the entire building. That seems like quite an important charity as well for OUR future. Lets not forget how many Shluchim send their kids here too if that makes any difference!

very nice! but my humble opinion if he gave 2 million to one chabad house to build a building it would be more impactful.

To comments #1 and #2 just say thanks.
A Shliach
To #2:
Actually, $500 is VERY impactful to us. We actually have moeny for Yom Tov needs for our families.
Sometimes investing in people is better than in buildings.
Thank you!
To #1 and #2, Someone is doing something very nice and thoughtful. Appreciate it! Say thank you! Don’t complain! Besides, let all the shluchim receive the benifit, if they decide to all give it to one shliach for a building, then let them decide. I think they would rather all have a part of it. They could all use the money before yom tov!

#1 It would be nice if he gave to Bais Rivka, but that does not take away from the fact that parents have to make Zchar Limud the number 1 priority, before nice cars, bungalows etc.
#2 It would make a big effect to build a $2 Mil. building, but if you ask all the Shluchim he helped they would all tell you that the funds were better utilized this way.
May he continue doing this wonderful work and may he and all Klal Yisroel be blessed with a Ksiva Vchasima Tova Lshona Tova Umesuka Begasmius Uveruchnius!

Mazal tov, Reb Bogolubov, may you and your blessed family receive all the blessings you haved by this great act of tzedaka.
As the Rebbe writes to every father after the birth of a daughter about the merit (Pesachim) of helping others who practice the Torah’s teachings.
Meiri explains that those that help others do is greater than the doer. So, you Reb Bogolubov are greater.
But the Rebbe further explains by the Carter and Food Stamps sichas that the more you give, the more G-d blesses you abundantly.
So, when you gove $2 million, G-d must pay you back 10 fold, or $20 million; but if you give $4 million, He gives $40, and so on.

#2 there are people doing that but Mr. Bogolubov wants to help shluchim in their personal life. You can’t imagine the boost this gives a shliach to get a check for their personal simcha or now for yom tov. Mr. Bogolubov Hashem should bless you to always be able to help and to be able to give more and more.

larry – u clearly dont know what a $500 check in time for yom tov can do for a shliach.
Be Happy for Others
To 1 & 2…
While nobody isdoubting or disputing the importance of your words… Please recognize the great philnthropy of a special individual who decided to share his simcha in such unique fashion, and be happy for the thousands of Shluchim who will be able to buy clothes for their kids or put food on the table for Yom Tov. If you display such happiness and “fargin” anothers windfall, then you will find brocho in your life.

stop giving your humble opinion, and give some $$$. Doesn’t seem like you have too close a relationship to any shliach, i personally have many family members out on shlichus, and have heard first hand how excited, and happy they were to receive such a beautiful gift at such an opportune time!
what a role model Mr. Bogolubov is!

he did it how he wanted to, and it will make its impact in HaShem’s ways. Wishing him much mazal and simchas and to all Yidden. may we all increase in mitzvos, eidelkeit, Torah.

While we are having an flash of bright ideas, how about this: What if he gaveall his money to all israeli bochurim to come dance yechi in 770 for Tishrei?
Or pay for the rabbonim election?
Or for CHK?
Or for the beggars on Kingston Avenue?
…
You guys are living in a bubble.
To Larry Bernstein
With all due respect, $2M divided by even 4000 Shluchim means $500 to each family. May you never have to know what that money means to these families at this time of the year…
grateful shlucha
have to disagree with #2. plenty of shluchim out there benefit tremendously from $1000 or even $500. $2 mil to one shliach is impressive but this helps more shluchim.
a shaliach
to both #1 and #2… I am a shaliach who has benefitted from his generosity.
I do not go on vacations, do not have a fancy car, or fanccy home, have terrible debts simply living day-to-day.
And unlike Frum communities our community don’t have gemachs or tomchei shabbos, besides they expect the Rabbi to manage.
The gift of $500 from Bogolubbov Foundation has really brightened up our Yomtov.
It is a tremendous kindness he is doing by celebrating his simcha with generosity to others.
On Erev RH don’t put down his motives or his gift. It smells of pure jealousy.
Let’s daven for his continued success and kindness and nachas from his kinder.

#s 13 and 14 I respect (maybe a few others).
truth be that he did it how he wanted to.Respect it, and get over it. You just make yourself sound bored and silly by fantacizing what you think he should have done. If HaShem wanted it to be YOU, then He in His infinite chochmoh would have chosen you. Meanwhile, get busy with your own life, building it and making the best choices you can. What if a few more people become frum through that chabad house and then give money when their time comes. Its really not your cheshbon, unless you have a way to make it yours, then
as they say nowadays
Get a life.

Wonderful thing to get as a Shliach, I was wondering if people actually have received a check. I have received the wonderful support from the Bogolubov Foundation in the past, but have not received a check from them from this latest issue.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
I just heard that Chabad.org employees (including my husband) will be getting it as well.
