A travel agency that opened a page in Facebook managed to save hundreds of dollars to happy clients who will spend the summer in Israel.
Shmulik Kravitsky, the owner of Sky 2000 Travel Agency, heard from his clients how frustrated they are when they miss the current deals that the various Airlines have for flights to Israel. Hence, Kravitsky decided to take advantage of current technologies and he opened a special page on Facebook. On this page, Sky 2000 informs in real time when there are deals to Israel, so all registered clients can see the post. The page gets updated immediately when there is a special deal on flights to Israel and all the registered members automatically get these updates.
Shmulik opened this Facebook page on March 1st this year and on Tuesday, March 9th he realized how successful this move was. At 3pm Kravitsky informed the members (fans) of the page that due to a glitch in El Al’s reservations system people can now purchase round trip tickets to Israel for summer (July-September) for $1090 including all taxes, instead of the regular price that El Al charges which starts at $1500. Shmulik mentioned that by 6pm that evening, the time when the glitch was fixed, about 50 of his alert clients managed to purchase these discounted tickets and saved hundreds of dollars.
This last Tuesday the fans of the Sky 2000 Facebook page found out that Delta Airlines announced a special in which they offer business class tickets to Israel for $2000 plus tax, compared to the regular fare of $3000 plus tax.
Kravitsky admits that while you can’t always save hundreds of dollars due to these specials, even a saving of $50 per ticket is substantial, especially when the tickets are bought for a whole family.
