Rain or Snow, Released Time Will Go!
The Bochurim who volunteer in the Wednesday Released Time Program, learning with Public School children about their Jewishness; went ahead on their Mivtzoim despite the heavy snow fall. The program is arranged by Rabbi Yitzchok Bogomilsky.
One of the Bochurim Wrote to CrownHeights.info
Oh every morning when I’m through sleeping I open up my eyes and say thank you Hashem for my neshama and for giving me another day. Thank you Hashem for kosher pizza … and for snowstorms that keep us home from school — except for Wednesdays!
This well loved Released Time song finally came to vivid life.
Today’s heavy blizzard halted and caused the closure of many public institutions including all public schools. However, bochurim volunteering for the Wednesday Released Time Program continued today in their efforts of bringing Jewish public school children closer to yiddishkait. Despite the snow, groups either met in their usual synagogues, otherwise bochurim went to the children’s homes to ensure that every child gets a taste of Judaism for the week. For hours bochurim were calling children and parents in effort to make arrangements for this out of the ordinary Release Time experience. Today, children in over 35 public schools were reached, the first time that public schools were closed yet the Jewish hour ran as usual. One individual was inspired upon hearing of the great sacrifice that the bochurim had in these inclement conditions and donned Tefillin for the first time in his life.
“This is our opportunity to give the public school students a true experience of chinus al taharas hakodesh-a day of exclusive Jewish study!” and make a genuine Kiddush Hashem.

no way
all public school were closed!
Schools were closed on 2/11/10
Humm, where exactly did these Bochirim go yesterday? All of the public schools in NYC were closed on Wednesday 11th? While I feel JRT is a good program CHI needs to check the facts of the article before publishing these stories.
Some Light Despite Much Darkness
To the two dolts that left the first two comments about public schools being closed and that CHI needs to check its facts, why don’t you both actually read what was written?!
The article reads: “Today’s heavy blizzard halted and caused the closure of many public institutions including all public schools. However, bochurim volunteering for the Wednesday Released Time Program continued today in their efforts of bringing Jewish public school children closer to yiddishkait. Despite the snow, groups either met in their usual synagogues, otherwise bochurim went to the children’s homes to ensure that every child gets a taste of Judaism for the week.”
The negative candor of some of these commenter’s begs the question, how many of you are clinically depressed? Why is everything in your lives seen from such a critical eye?
CHI keep bringing us *ALL* the news, unlike….
Thank you hashem for...........
For kosher pizza….. and for snowstorms that keep us home from school…. except Wednesday’s!!!
good job!
It’s great that these bochurim went out despite the weather and brought Judaism to these kids who need it so badly.
Yeshar Koach
Ha ha...
This is very funny because there was no public school yesterday. There is a (not so)fine line between being a hero and being stupid.
muki
go shimon
Esther
Yasher koach! Such a kiddush Hashem :)
To those that have no idea
1) Either the kids were visited at their homes
2) The parants were called and were informed that there will be classes.
It was a great Kiddush Hashem
moshiach now!!!!!!!
it os when you see such tireless work done for the rebbes shluchis i wonder to myself.. Ashreinu matov chalken… we are so lucky to have the words and guidance so clearly spelled out.. may the shluchis be made into actuality as to what mus happen in the world now.. why is there so much ctitisism just from a simple comment.. if somone had a question on the content.. why cant it just be answered quietly…?
Impressed
Beautiful story, thank you bochurim and CHI for reporting!
TO HAHA
To Ha Ha, before you leave lame comments, take a minute of your time and actually read what the article says, instead of skimming the photos and writing comments, It clearly says that the groups met in shuls OR the bochurim even went to the kids houses…
So find something better to do with your time
