Chabad is one of a number of area charities being asked to return money Rothstein donated directly, as well as donations that may have come from the proceeds of defrauded people. Another was the Jewish Federation of Broward County.

If it was a charitable donation made by him from his personal funds and Chabad didn’t know of the wrongdoing when the donation(s) were made, they probably won’t have to return it, at least from a legal point of view.

  • read the news?

Did you read the news? The judge in the case is asking for the money back! Not just from Chabad.

it is incredibly funny as honestly most of the time
the recipient doesnt ask and says thank you if able
stories of anonyomous giving are abound like the sage and his wife that hid
if you need your name in lights go to a store
if it is to add to the glory of the torah your welcome
whose name it was isnt the issue
the issue is can it be done
    yes it can
“ money has no owner ” currency

Why is it not chabad? Because he built up a beautiful chabad house that was too sucsessful and big? And it draws crows? And his a great shliach? What makes him not chabad? Grow up kids. It is politics. Keep up the good work Rabbi and Mrs Kaplan.

If you don’t know the inside story, you can’t judge. I am sure a lot of thought went into this decision, although I do not know the Kaplans, and I am sure they are trying to do the right thing. Hatzlocha
