22nd Annual Dinner for Chamah

NEW YORK, NY [CHI] — ‘Chamah’ held its 22nd annual dinner last night, Thursday, in the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Manhattan. Guest of honor was Mr. Martin Indyk, the former ambassador of the United States to Israel, and the president of the IFCJ Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein.

During the evening the crowd heard from the directors, Rabbis Hillel Zaltzman, Moshiach Chudaitov, and Binyomin Malachowski who presented their plans and projections for the upcoming year.

‘Chamah’ began in 1953 as an underground organization which provided support for jaws that were trapped behind the iron curtain in the former Soviet Union, and has been providing support for the past 50 years. Chamah also operates in the states as well as Israel running community centers, institutions for orphans and needy children, and food distribution.
