Mayer Rivkin on JLI Webcast – Announces Release of New Music Video
The Mayer Rivkin Music Video “It Happened Yom Kippur” will be presented, during the musical segment, of the Pre-Rosh Hashana Webcast of the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute’s Unity Lecture Series, to be broadcast across the globe on Sunday September 13, 2009.
“It is indeed an honor for us to have been chosen to participate, through our music video production, in this significant and historical event that unites Jews from all walks of life and from all corners of the world,” said Chabad Vocalist Mayer Rivkin, of Infinity Productions. “The message of the It Happened Yom Kippur video, which tells the story of a young Jewish soldier as he goes into battle at the beginning of the Yom Kippur War of October, 1973, will surely inspire and impact the many thousands who will participate in the Webcast lecture.”
The Unity Lecture Series is a project of the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI), which is the adult education arm of Chabad-Lubavitch and the world’s largest adult education network. JLI’s classes and programs are offered at over 300 locations in more that 200 cities nationwide, as well as in international cities across the world. Over 100,000 people have attended JLI classes since the organization’s creation in 1998. JLI has created a unique global learning community by synchronizing its courses, offering lessons concurrently in all locations.
At the same time, Infinity Productions has announced the completion of its new Music Video production “The Promise,” which is slated to be released, G-d Willing, before Yom Kippur on Tishrei 6, 5770 – September 24, 2009. In this new music video, Rivkin sings the well known Chabad melody frequently sung during Rosh Hashana prayers and particularly during the Yom Kippur evening prayer of “Yaaleh.” The Niggun (melody) was composed by the great Chossid and Baal Menagen (vocalist), Rabbi Sholom Charitonov, z”l, of the Ukraine, with added English lyrics written during the summer of 1991 at Camp Gan Israel, Detroit, Michigan. The heart wrenching tune, lyrics and images, illustrate the pain and confusion of the long, bitter exile and the unfaltering faith with which Jews proclaim: “Hashem made a Promise … we will be redeemed … Moshiach will come to fulfill our dream.”
Both the “It happened Yom Kippur” and the new “The Promise” music video, are from the soon to be released 13 English song CD album entitled “REDEMPTION” where every one of the songs denotes the trails and tribulations of exile, together with the yearning, hope and demand for the immediate Redemption.
