A large farbrengen, including many guests and the students of the Ivy League Torah Study Experience and Machon Chana’s Yeshivacation Monsey, who were both having Shabbatons in Monsey, was held at K’hal Tzemach Tzedek Lubavitch of Monsey on Shabbos with the participation of both of Rabbi Wichnin’s sons Rabbi Yisroel Noach, who is the Rosh Yeshiva at the Mayanot Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, and Nachman Dov, who is a head counselor in Gan Israel, NY.

This blessed man, teacher, mentor, friend, and Jew was good, beyond words. There are no words to describe the loss caused by his untimely passing, so I shall not even try. Please remember, this was a man that frequently slept overnight on his office sofa in order to be early for shiur. Moreover, he absolutely refused to allow the Yeshiva (Tiferes Bachurum, Morristown NJ) to have his office cleaned, insisting instead on cleaning his own office. I studied under him from February 4 to August 2, 1985 and was devastated to learn in 1996 that he had passed away. I miss him very much. Perhaps one day I shall be able to study under his son, Rabbi Wichnin, in Mayanot some day.
With much gratitude and grief,

Rav Wichnin was a giant. He was tough and demanded 200% foe Avodas Hashem.Brilliant person and the world is left with a huge void of goodness,Torah and Ahavas Yisroel.

I must write to express the great admiration and love I had and have for HaRav Wichnin, second maybe only to the Rebbe.
He was a Gadol baTorah and a real Chassid, a man who inspired great respect. Anyone who ever heard his reading of the Torah (leining) would be reminded of the famous way the Alter Rebbe read the Torah with wonderful patience and slow deliberation, every word precious and to be savored, something special to hear. I deeply regret not having been connected more when he was here, when I was in his Yeshiva.
Remembering him is to be in pain at this long galus, and missing the great people who comfort us in this long exile. May his memory be a great blessing.
