Siyum Harmabam in Detroit
DETROIT, Michigan [CHI] — This past Wednesday, Chof Vav Iyar, hundreds of men, woman and children, Rabonim, Anash, Shluchim, Bochurim and Baalei Batim gathered together for a beautiful evening commemorating the “Shnas Hakhel Siyum Harambam” in Detroit, Michigan.
Rabbi Leima Wilhelm, the Rosh Yeshiva at the local Lubavitch Mesivta, gave the opening remarks followed by a video of the Rebbe of 12 Sivan 5746, in which the Rebbe spoke about a special quality that the Sefer Hayad has that it could be learnt by all Jews equally. Followed by the Siyum by Rabbi Berel Shemtov, head Shliach to the state of Michigan, which said a few words on the importance of this Takanah and that it’s our Zechus and Achrayus to share it with all Jews. Then Rabbi Chaim Steinmetz, the Rosh Yeshivah of Yeshivas Menachem Mendel Lubavitch, started the new cycle of Rambam and spoke invigorating words about the special Takanah of Limud Harambam.
After that we had the delight of listening to the guest speaker, Rabbi Moshe feller, head Shliach to the state of Minnesota, who spoke and shared some stories about Rabmam, Limud Hatora and Hiskashrus among others.
After the official ceremony we Davened Maariv and then sat together for a Chasidishe Farbrengen that went late into the night, where Rabbi Feller shared with us special Horaos he got from the Rebbe on many different occasions.
The Siyum which was arranged and sponsored by the local Smicha program was a real opportunity for each one of the participants to reflect and reassess his standing in this great mission.
