8th Day Shines in Redondo Beach
REDONDO BEACH, CA — “This might have been the best concert I’ve ever been to,” said Brian Krieger, 41, a long time supporter of Chabad and now a lifetime fan of 8th Day.
Krieger was one of hundreds who gathered last night at the Jewish Community Center of Redondo Beach to hear the brothers Marcus and their ever growing popular band 8th Day.
In perhaps one of the nicest Chabad House in California, the crowd was treated to a musical delight that featured all of the classic 8th Day hits like Tracht Gut and Bobbenyu, as well as some new material from their upcoming album.
“I’ve heard them before but I think they have really come into their own now” commented Lisa Shulman. “I left last night with an overwhelming feeling of joy.”
Brothers Shmuel and Bentzy Marcus who formed 8th Day, were joined last night by their Drummer Rosey Sanchez, Sax/Clairnet player Leo Chelyapov, Bassist Dana Decker and special guest and younger borther Eli Marcus, on backup vocals and percussion.
“It was the first time I’d heard them and I was absolutely blown away” said Patrick Azria a musician from Pairs France. “I was not expecting a Rabbi and his brother to be able to move me like that.”
