Remembering Rabbi YY Lipsker A”H

MORRISTOWN, NJ [CHI] — In honor of Yud Alef Shvat the Yartziet of Rabbi YY Lipsker (affectionately known as “Fitzy”)A”H, a Hakel-reunion was held in Morristown.

“Rabbi Lipsker A”H had a unique character. It was evident from how he would learn, interact with students and even how he spoke at the Hanhola meetings“ said Rabbi Chaim Brafman rosh kolel. ”He knew how to inspire the students while all the time stressing the importance to maintain a healthy balance in their overall personality and presentation.“

The program was complete with learning B’chavrusa, a Shiur from Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Dubinsky and a Farbrangen.

”This is where I sat from 1980- 1982!“ remarked alumnus Shmuel Poller. While alumni remenissed of the days by gone and redidcated thier devotion to learning, the current students enjoyed the experience and were inspired by seeing and learning, with those who were in the Yeshiva previously.

This reunion has set off a serious of Hakel reunions around the Globe. ”If I couldn’t make it to Morristown, we should make a Morristown reunion in the UK” said Yisroel Nyman of London, who is actively orginizing this project. The effects have been felt in Australia as well, where there is already talk of a reunion of the dozens of students who have been touched by the learning they did in the Rabbinical College.
