MONTREAL, Canada [CHI] — The Chabad elementary Yeshivah in Montreal increased their security last week. This comes after a Middle Eastern looking man was inquiring some young pupils as to their schedule, more specifically they were asked, “When is lunch and dismissal?”

Yeshivah personnel, who later informed about the inquiring Arab, beefed up security around the building. This included bolting shut all entrances to the building, as well as hiring full-time security to monitor people coming into the building at the front entrance.

Yeshivah personnel, who later informed about the inquiring Arab, beefed up security around the building. This included bolting shut all entrances to the building, as well as hiring full-time security to monitor people coming into the building at the front entrance.

The Yeshivah has since sent letters to all the parents, informing them of the events.

we have to do our part. and we can not stop everything, we have to trust in hashem

It’s better to be safe than sorry, but there’s probably an innocent explanation to the man’s questions. It’s unlikely that a real terrorist would gather information in such a way when those things, such as dismissal time, are easily observed.

  • in Montreal

I have children in the Yeshiva and I have not received any notification about this.

  • Less showmanship please

“As Gaza Ground War Intensifies, Chabad Representatives Step Up Support Activities”

How about doing it in a lower profile manner instead of flaunting it around the world on the net with pictures etc.

With so many vulnerable children in their care they should be less visible.

For sure we must be vigilante, even the smallest suspicion must be taken seriously.

  • montreal

    thanks for publishing that
and the letter only went out to the cheders parents

  • curious

Just out of curiosity does anyone know if the bais rivkah montreal’s emergency exits are locked from the outside or are they unlocked?

  • zev

The letter went out to all the parents

The security concerns are natural. The visitor was not the reason for it, as much as a wake up call. Exaggerating makes for bad journalism. Your making everybody panic for no reason. They should feel safe because of the security, not threatened because of the need for it.

oholei torah in crown heights is also locking all doors.

    WELL DONE YTTL MONTREAL!!!
WHEN IT COMES TO SAFETY, BETTER BE OVER CAUTIOUS 999TIMES THAN TO ALLOW A SINGLE REAL (CHV“SH) ONE ”CRIED WOLF“…

I HOPE THE ALL YESHIVOS FOLLOW THEIR ”RESPONSIBLE“ LEAD!!

HASHEM REQUIRES MAN’S HISHTADLUS-EFFORT IN ORDER TO RELY ON HASHEM’S BLESSING!! (JUDAISM 101!!)

ITS NOT A LACK OF FAITH, ITS UNDERSTANDING THE PRINCIPLE THAT ”HASHEM WANTS US TO RESPECT THE LAWS OF NATURE HE CREATED!, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME REMEMBERING THAT HASHEM CREATED NATURE, AND WISHES PRESERVE ITS INTEGRITY TO THE MAX! WITHOUT NATURE YA CANT HAVE DIRA “BATACHTONIM”

“was inquiring some young pupils as to their schedule, more specifically they were asked, “When is lunch and dismissal?””
this sentence is completely inaccurate!!! The individual was approached by one of the teacher’s. The teacher sent him away after the conversation didnt make sense.

  • A Proud Parent

My son learns in the Yeshivah in Montreal, he said 2 other suspicious Arab looking males were found in the dorms looking
around. This is not to be taken Lightly and the Hanholo of the Cheder and Yeshivah needs to be given credit for their prompt actions. They are also taking additional security measures which comes with more financial costs well. The zchus of the Fifty blatt Gemoroh that the bochurim took upon themselves each to learn in the memory of the kedoishim will surly protect them as well.

IT WAS ALL FOR GOOD SHOW, I DON’T KNOW WHERE U GOT THESE PICKS, I JUST CAME BACK FROM YESHIVA, AND MOST DOORS WERE OPEN NOT LOCK DOWN LIKE THEY PROMISED TO DO. and besides no visible guard was there. so let’s get real!!!

  • impressed by the hanala of this Yeshiva

its reassuring to see PROMPT measures, despite the obvious costs!!

parents in other yeshivos should collect $$ to encourage the deciders on the top to go 50 50 or something realistic!

  • chana

My husband actually spotted a couple taking pictures outside of yeshiva and he got their license plate, similar incidents occured at other jewish schools in the area so we have to do all we can- then again, locks and a security quard wouldn’t stop these animals anyway.
    We need to pray…

  • haha

these are all lies it never happend its one of the administrators of yeshiva who wrote this for attention and for some $$$
