CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — The streets of Crown Heights were bursting with action, men women and children from around the world have gathered for “Tishrei in the Rebbe’s Court”.
While sometimes the extra load of people can be burdensome; extra long lines in our local stores, extra pushing and shoving in 770, over flowing usage of the Mikva’s, to name a few. We are well aware of the Rebbe’s supportiveness of Hachnosas Orchim, and the residents of the Shechuna, as always, have stepped up to the task.
Amidst the Ruckus; Meaningful Programming for Bochurim
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — The streets of Crown Heights were bursting with action, men women and children from around the world have gathered for “Tishrei in the Rebbe’s Court”.
While sometimes the extra load of people can be burdensome; extra long lines in our local stores, extra pushing and shoving in 770, over flowing usage of the Mikva’s, to name a few. We are well aware of the Rebbe’s supportiveness of Hachnosas Orchim, and the residents of the Shechuna, as always, have stepped up to the task.
Amidst all this, The Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim – International Committee for Bochurim – have taken upon themselves the task of making the month long stay meaningful and inspirational, for the estimated close to 1,500 guest Bochurim. A wide array of programming assured that the Bochurim not only use their time here wisely, but also that they go back home with a greater understanding, in how they can be real Chassidim in today’s trying times.
The grand Bruchim-Haboim evening held at Campus Chamesh the day before Rosh Hashana, was attended by over 700 and were welcomed by two members of the Badatz Rabbi Segal and Rabbi Raitport, Rabbi Yossi Jacobson addressed the crowd. Nightly Shiurim and Farbrengens were organized in the Kollel and Chovevei-Torah, with personalities such as the Rebbe’s choizer Rabbi Yoel Kahn, Rabbi’s Shlomo Zarchi, Dovid Feldman and many more.
Tours of the Rebbe’s Library, Davening in the Rebbe’s house and the Rebbe’s room, were arranged specially for the guests. Daily busses to the Ohel are subsidized as an added convenience.
Highlight events were:
1. Farbrengen with Rabbi Yoel Kahn on Vov Tishrei.
2. Farbrengen with Rabbi Avrohom Shemtov and Berel Futerfas on Yud-Gimel Tishrei.
3. A panel of leading Rabbis discussing Sukkos by the Rebbe throughout the years. Rabbi’s Binyomin Klein (the Rebbe’s Mazkir), Nochum Kaplan (Chinuch office) and Ephraim Pekarski eloquently described eternal moments they merited to spend with the Rebbe, and answered questions from the spellbound audience.
4. A panel on “Shlichus”. Participating Rabbis’s were Moshe Kotlarsky (Merkos), Leibel Altein (Heichal Menachem), Berel Shemtov (Michigan) Kasriel Kastel (Tzach). Rabbi Yoel Kahn discussed the ‘Shlichus’ each of us has to bring about the days of Moshiach very soon. It was moderated by Rabbi Pesach Schmerling (far-rockaway).
“This year’s Tishrei events saw unprecedented attendance, but even more important was the interest of the Bochurim to learn and take in every word from the Rabonim and Mashpi’im who spent decades with the Rebbe” said Shmuel Reinetz, coordinator of Tishrei programming in the Vaad. “Their tremendous Tishrei experiences were an excellent start of the new year”.
Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim would like to thank the Hanhala of the Kollel, Beis Rivkah, and Yeshivas Chovevei Torah for opening their doors for the Bochurim. Raskins fruits, Kingston Bake Shop, Albany Bakery, Dovid Malka, Avrohom Silver and many more that helped make this all happen. And of course to all the Rabbis that take of their time for this purpose.
Let us hope that Moshiach comes immediately and we merit to be with the Rebbe bgashmiyus as in the sweet days we all remember so fondly.
Binyomin
Does Rabbi Hecht support this?
I think he should after the article he wrote before tishrei.
bochurim
what an amzing job the people at the Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim do! I am a bochur and all i can do is say thank you to those that run this moisad, and to those that fund it.
thanx vaad and supporters
after reading that hurting article about the terror caused by crazy – and crazy made – beings during tishrei, and all the comments made about it, amongst them people pledging to “do something about it” etc. this article sheds light to the wonderfull things that happened, thanx to caring people, and hence, may i suggest to all those that are promising to help the situation: please suport the vaad. beguf and/or bemomoin.!
me’at or doche choshech! bifrat harbeh or!
Berel
Unfortunately most of the attendees of the events were locals. Most of the Orchim do not participate in the Vaad’s events!

Thank You Vaad!
You are a beakon of light in a troubled time.
Does Rabbi Shemtov of agudas support your work?
Bocher
Thank you Vaad and all the sponsors for such amazing programs throughout the whole year. The only thing I can request is if the events can be publicized a little earlier and a little more widely (like for example on-line) Because I heard of too many of the events after they happened.
To Berel
I invite you to view the link here and count how many locals are in the pics. Fact is that anyone without an EZpass does attend their events. I never saw a non ezpass at a terrorist event. (some people like your self, still need to get over themselves)

A correction
To Berel,
I personally attended many of the Vaad’s events and can testify that the majority of attendees were actually NOT locals.
