JAMBEROO, NSW, Australia [CHI] — Two hundred women from all over Australia gathered in Jamberoo this weekend for Chabad of Australia's N'shei uBnos Chabad convention. The annual convention, which alternates between Melbourne and Sydney is the inspiration of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. It takes place in many countries throughout the world. This 13th Australian Convention was convened by Gavriella Aber, Hudi Braun, Elka Feldman and Tamar Rosenthal under the guidance of Rebbetzin Pnina Feldman, head of N’shei Chabad in Sydney and major sponsor of the weekend.
13th Annual N’shei uBnos Chabad Convention
JAMBEROO, NSW, Australia [CHI] — Two hundred women from all over Australia gathered in Jamberoo this weekend for Chabad of Australia’s N’shei uBnos Chabad convention. The annual convention, which alternates between Melbourne and Sydney is the inspiration of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. It takes place in many countries throughout the world. This 13th Australian Convention was convened by Gavriella Aber, Hudi Braun, Elka Feldman and Tamar Rosenthal under the guidance of Rebbetzin Pnina Feldman, head of N’shei Chabad in Sydney and major sponsor of the weekend.
Highlights included the wide range of presenters and speakers, each one fascinating and inspiring. Shabbos meals provided for round table discussions on some of the important roles women play as Jewish mothers, teachers, wives, role models and Chassidim. The daily Chitas class was packed as were the Shiurim on Moshiach and a Maamar from the Frierdiker Rebbe. The captivating Friday night program ran into the early hours of the morning and included topics such as “Marital Intimacy and Communication” and “Real Life Stories of Inspiration” as well as a traditional Chassidishe Farbrengen.
On Motsei Shabbos, women enjoyed a Tznius fashion show and an amazing program where everyone was invited to share her thoughts and ideas towards creating awareness in the area of Tznius. The focus on self-respect and dignity as “Daughter’s of the King” created an encouraging, comfortable and optimistic environment aimed at achieving positive outcomes in this important area.
Sunday morning was filled with constructive and captivating workshops including: What the Rebbe says to Women, A Woman’s Crown – The Benefits and Advantages Gained by Wearing a Sheitel, Parenting Your Adult Child and Self-discovery through Creativity. There was a Panel on Shidduch Counselling and a Panel on Creating a Chassidishe Home – Raising Children under Bar/Bas Mtizvah. There was also a workshop presentation from the Jewish Taskforce Against Family Violence.
During the entire weekend, the food was gourmet and the location, surrounded by mountains was gorgeous.
The Convention concluded with a moving address by Rebbetzin Pnina Feldman empowering women to realize their inner strength and highlighting the Jewish woman’s integral role in the history of the Jewish people and our future Redemption.
Women attended from communities across Australia, many whom had never previously attended. At every point opportunities were made available for women to make new friends, share ideas and learn from each other. The atmosphere was one of unity and pride in our rich lives filled with the values of Torah and Chassidus – Jewish mysticism and spirituality. Some enjoyed their time so much they didn’t want it to end and said they are looking forward to next year’s Convention.
