BROOKLYN, NY [CHI] — “In Chabad nothing changed,” said the former President of Israel Zalman Shazar to a reporter the morning following of his two audiences and participation in the Chassidic gathering with the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory, “they greeted me with the same parade and the same love as when I was president.”

Shazar said this in contrast to the way others had greeted the former president since he stepped down from his presidency. “In most places he has already been forgotten,” wrote the paper, “he is already not the President.”

“The true friends,” said Shazar, “did not stop coming and conferring with me.”

New Rebbe Pictures With Shazar to be Posted on Chabad.org

“The Rebbe received me well and was very helpful,” said Shazar, “he gave me good advice on how to adjust to my new situation of being a simple citizen. The transition is very difficult and the Rebbe’s advice is truthfully helpful.”

The final visit of Shazar was scarcely documented or photographed, since he was not President. However, for the first time a series of pictures by award winning photographer Jerry Dantzic, of the event will be posted on Chabad.org. More details to follow.
