CHICAGO, IL [CHI] — For the twelfth straight year the Lubavitcher bochurim returned home from Yeshiva to coordinate the Mitzva Tank parade that took place on Monday, 9 Nissan.

From Rostov (Arad) to Brunoy, to Oholei Torah and the Lubavitch Mesivta of Chicago and lubavitch yeshivas around the world, the bochurim organized, funded and executed all the necessary arrangements for the 15 converted campers to hit the streets with Matzo, Pesach guides, chometz sale forms and Tefilin and neshek.

The Parade coordinators, Leibel Moscowitz , Yehuda Glaser, & Mendy Lubin lined up the Tanks at Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois headquarters on Sunday night, the boys spent the evening decorating them and Monday morning at 9:30 AM sharp the police escorted parade began.

First a tour down Devon Ave, in the heart of the Jewish neighborhood in Chicago, then off to a rally at Cheder Lubavitch where children who had participated in a special Yud Aleph Nissan preparation program earned the right to join the bochurim on the Tanks. The “tankistin” posed for a group picture with the parade coordinators and Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz, head shliach in Illinois, who thanked the bochurim for their dedicated efforts in honor of Yud Aleph Nissan.

Then down Lake Shore Drive, a ride down Chicago’s Magnificent Mile and off to Daley Plaza, Chicago’s City Hall for a quick ceremony.

From there the 15 Tanks fanned out to prearranged posts throughout Chicagoland.

500 punds of shmura Matzo was distributed, as was more than 1,000 copies of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois’ specially prepared Pesach edition of “Illuminate Illinois”. Hundreds of Jews put on Tefilin and sold their chametz and countless waves and thumbs up as Jewish pride swelled at the sight of these mobile messengers of goodness encouraged everyone to celebrate true Freedom in honor of Pesach.

A great Yasher Koach goes to all the bochurim who helped make this years Tank Parade the best ever. Special thanks to chief tankist R’ Yehuda Sugar. Plans are already underway for next years parade scheduled to take place in Yerushalyim with the coming of Moshiach.

As one of the drivers of the tanks, I am so proud that they pulled this off. Rabbi Moscowitz, his sons and Yehudah Glazer (and all the others who put in many hours) are chevreleit.
