Torah Inauguration in Memory of Yosef Zaklos
NAPLES, FL [CHI] — HaTomim Yosef Yitzchok Zaklos was a close friend to so many. Throughout his years in Yeshiva, Camp and everywhere in between that people got to know him, every single person that he came in contact with felt like they were Yossi’s best friend.
At the young age of 19 Yossi was taken from our midst leaving behind a legacy of pure Ahavas Yisroel and a devotion to the Rebbe’s Mivtzoim and bringing the Geula.
On the 13th of Shevat, over 200 people from the Jewish community of Naples, Florida under the leadership of Yossi’s brother Rabbi Fishel Zaklos, gathered at the Ritz Carlton Hotel with the hope to continue and fulfill the dreams of Yossi’s short but rich life.
Together the Jewish community began to write what they already affectionately call “Yossi’s Sefer Torah.”
In attendance at the memorable event were elected officials, community leaders and nearby Shluchim who came to witness and participate in the momentous occasion.
The event began with words of greeting and inspiration by Rabbi Fishel Zaklos followed by remarks from the local officials. The children of the Chabad Hebrew School then put on a beautiful Torah presentation for the crowd.
This was followed by a rendition of the “Torah song” performed by Rabbi Levi Chanowitz as the members of the community were then honored with inscribing letters in the Torah.
The day concluded with a delicious buffet and an exciting afternoon of activities for the children as well.
The Torah (which will -G-d willing- be completed in less than a year’s time) will unite the community in the spirit and joy of Yiddishkeit which Yossi projected so beautifully.

I was in attendance at this commorative event. I have to say it was absolutely beautiful! It could have been held behind a dumpster and not The Ritz, and it still could have been wonderful. Many thanks to the Rabbi and all involved for pulling together to make this happen! Shalom!
