CGI Florida – An Experience to Remember

Groveland, FL — These last two weeks have been amazing. Camp Gan Israel Florida, opened only this summer, is proving to be a luxury camp as well as a trendsetter in the overnight camping world.

Our campers, boys between the ages of 8 -14 are having an unbelievable inaugural season. These past two weeks have seen both campers and parents ecstatic as they experience the magnificent facilities, excellent learning program and fun and exciting activities. The following highlights say it all.

Campers are actually looking forward to learning classes because they are unique and innovative like the Yiddish language course where the kids are learning or developing their Yiddish speaking skills.

Mishnayos Baal Peh and Tzivos Hashem competitions are rocking Shabbos as campers compete for points and prizes. The Shabbos ahead will be a Yom Iyun and almost 50 shluchim from across the state are coming to spend a day in camp to learn and speak with the campers. Noted rabbis include Rabbis Avraham Korf, Moshe Bogomilsky and Leibel Shapiro.

Former NFL Star and Super Bowl winner Alan Veingrad, spent Shabbos in camp where he spoke to both campers and staff about becoming a Baal Teshuvah. He also held a football camp on Sunday, giving the thrilled campers points and tips to improve their game.

The play performed by the staff kept the campers on the edge of their seats. Special activities included bowling, barbecues, Mitzvah Jeopardy, a concert and much more. One of the highlights of the week is the Motzei Shabbos video by Deny the night activity director which recaps the week in camp.

An amazing trip to Islands of Adventure one of two theme parks to be visited this summer rounded out our first session.

Campers and staff are enjoying the first-ever camp salad bar which is set up every lunch and dinner with 14 salads as well as pasta and dressings. Breakfast is not overlooked and has its own cereal and juice bars.

    this sounds very cool and yashar koach to the shluchim, but you should know that gan israel chicago’s 8 day overnight, was the first to have a full salad bar for lunch and dinner. amongst other things that is the best shluchim’s overnight.

    to mom:

    I have a son in this camp, and I was there and I have to tell you that everything was great and first-rate.
    I dont know where you got your statistics, but I dont believe that more than one or two kids left after the first session ecause they didnt like it; most left because that was all they were supposed to attend. Besides for that, basically the same amount of kids that left also arrived for the second session.

    Thank you Rabbi Biston for accomplishing this task and may you only have continued success in the future because with Hashem’s help the camp will only grow.

    To Mom:

    Some children were only registered for one session. In addition, many who were only scheduled to stay for one session, stayed on for the second. Feel free to call the camp for more information

    To Mom;
    Maybe you should get your facts straight before you start criticizing. It happens to be that maybe your child wasn’t bright enough to have a good time there, but my child is having an amazing time.
    And to CM, I don’t know what junk they serve in chicago, but this salad bar has fresh salad (not to mention a juice bar, cereal bar and pasta bar.) People should know more before they start shooting their mouths off.
