Camp L’man Achai Starts off With a Bang

Andes, NY — Camp Lman Achai’s first session of summer 5767 started off with a bang. Under clear blue skies and freshly mowed grass, eager staff awaited as the campers began to arrive. The first vans coming straight from the airport, were filled with excited campers flying in from Florida, Tennessee, Chicago, Texas, California, and as far out as Caracas, Venezuela.

Shortly thereafter, two coach buses arrived with campers bursting with energy and excitement. The air was palpable with joy as old campers embraced staff members and new campers were happily welcomed and warmly greeted. As the campers disembarked, Michael, a new camper took a look around and exclaimed, “It’s so beautiful here, it smells so fresh. It reminds me of Israel!” A delicious hot lunch followed with some time for unpacking.

A fun filled program was squeezed into the remainder of the day with swimming and boating in the beautiful pristine lake, and all the courts were bustling with activity; from baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, volleyball, and archery. The day capped off with a thoroughly entertaining night activity program and some bunks were even treated to their first survival outdoor activity after dark!

With children from all kinds of Jewish background coming together, Camp L’man Achai focuses on each camper’s individual needs and gives much attention and care to offer a program that is fulfilling, both in Ruchniusdige and Gashmiusge ways.
