Camp F.R.E.E. Never Ends
The summer has flown by quickly, and most summer camps have ended their programs a full week ago. There was one camp, however, that gave its campers a few extra days to enjoy the camp experience. Camp F.R.E.E. – Gan Israel of Brooklyn continued until Friday, August 24th, concluding with a grand banquet and awards presentation.
One camper, Sharon Binyaminov, just recently immigrated with his family from Moscow, Russia. Although he has not yet learned to speak English, he has already learned in camp enough Hebrew to say the basic prayers. In recognition of his achievements and commitment, he received a wonderful present from the camp administrator Rabbi Dan Dashevsky and camp director Rabbi Dovid Okunov – his very own pair of Tefillin.
Although the regular camp program has finally come to an end, a group of campers, including Sharon, are going this weekend on an exciting shabbaton to the Chabad House of Manalapan, New Jersey. This shabbaton is just one of many more to follow.
Like they say, Camp F.R.E.E. never ends…
