On recent hike and scavenger hunt campers and counselors of Camp Machne Mamosh walked across the Brooklyn Bridge into lower Manhattan. The scenery was just stunning. Campers enjoyed seeing the beautiful NYC skyline, the water and some of the man made water falls along the East River. The campers were challenged to find all four water falls, a challenge, being that one of the four was right beneath their very own feet, under the Brooklyn Bridge. Campers walked back and fourth, yet only after bending down and looking through the cracks between the planks of wood did someone discover the last water fall.

The campers walked in a single-file line the entire time, making a tremendous Kiddush Hashem throughout the walk, passersby seemed very impressed and even took pictures of the line.

Before getting off the bidge campers stopped to hear the tragic story and pay tribute to a fellow tomim, Ari Halbershtam Hy”d, who was murdered on the bridge in 5754. The campers said some Psukim together; both for Ari and for the success of all Tmimim, here and abroad.

The campers then went on to visit City Hall and One Police Plaza, the Police Headquarters, where they took some pictures, learnt a bit about each place, met some people and brought some camp spirit.

The campers even managed to get a souvenier out of One Police Plaza, a foot tall, gold colored Chanukah Menorah about to be thrown into the garbage. The Menora is currently on display in Camp.

To find out more about what excitment is going on in Camp Machne Mamosh, just ask a camper; they experiance it every day!
