18 years ago today, the 14th of Cheshvan 1993, was the last time we saw the Rebbe 'B'Gashmiyus' as he made his last appearance in 770. The following poem, submitted by one of our readers, was written as a 'Pan' - a letter torn up and placed in the Rebbe's ohel. It expresses the feelings of all chassidim who yearn to see the Rebbe's holy face once again.

18 years ago today, the 14th of Cheshvan 1993, was the last time we saw the Rebbe ‘B’Gashmiyus’ as he made his last appearance in 770. The following poem, submitted by one of our readers, was written as a ‘Pan’ – a letter torn up and placed in the Rebbe’s ohel. It expresses the feelings of all chassidim who yearn to see the Rebbe’s holy face once again.

Dear Rebbe, today I came to visit you
I came as a simple and humble Jew
I needed your help from way up high
I needed my prayers to reach beyond the sky

I remeber my broken heart on that somber day
I did not want to hear the words “pass away”
You are my rock from when I was a kid
You taught me what it means to love every yid

And now as I prepare to take a new path
I need to hear your voice to hear you laugh
Please let me be in your glorious glow
I need to give my yetzer hara a real and final blow

I feel like a small chid in the wildreness
I am either filled with fear or a sense of bliss
But knowing you are here and you see my tears
Makes me want to dance and shelve my fears

Can I borrow your sharp sword of holiness?
So I can walk into my fears of loneliness
And fiill it with light, hapiness air tight
To fill Hashems will, even in this dark night

I am reconecting to the way you want me to be
The Rebbe knows what’s best its now so clear to me
I have opened my eyes, I have been through the cries
Its time for all of us to clearly see to move beyond the “whys”

Rebbe please help me keep him away
The one who always knows just what to say
To get me to turn, to forces of naught
To stop me from doing all that you have taught.

I await the day to see you once again
My Rebbe, my rock, my true unwavering friend.

Rebbe, ich hub aich lib.

Ad Mosai!
