I object to your most distrbing pictures
But then after thinking about it again, the message needs to be as loud as possible
DO NOT CROSS IN THE MIDDLE
I mean how many bochurim have been hurt either from 749, or from chovovei Torah or from OT
MAybe thes pictures may be shocking enough to stop people from crossing in the middle, but somehow I do not think so

Please, cross Eastern parkway carefully and teach your kids to do so – I see a lot of people, especially young people, bochrim and kids do not cross it carefully. There is absolutely no point saving extra 10 seconds at such risk, this is very dangerous street.

WHY CROSS IN THE MIDDLE OF EASREN PARKWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ST AND IN THE RAIN????????????

  • rifka

It’s sad when someone looses their life as a pedestrian, I live on Eastern Parkway and know first hand that we can never be careful enough when crossing Eastern Parkway. Everyone should learn from this tradegy and pay more attention when crossing the roads, and teach our children to be extra careful on Eastern Parkway. This woman was someone’s child, wife and maybe someone’s mother and she paid the ultimate price for not crossing at the lights.

  • Sorry @ loss of life

  • BY-STANDER

even though it’s important to to convey the message portrayed by the article and pictures, still children check this website and i don’t think it’s proper to show pictures with a white sheet covered body on the street. why didn’t the police put the body in the ambulance?!

  • CN

Was it a "hit and run" or did the driver stop. It seems very inappropriate for the police to just leave the body lying covered in the street while they did their investigation. Seemingly they could have placed markers for the purposes of the investigation and then removed the body immediately out of respect.

  • A CONCERNED PARENT

THE YESHIVOTH AND PARENTS SHOULD TEACH AND ENCOURAGE CHILDREN TO ADHERE TO PROPER STREET CROSSING RULES AND REGULATIONS. ONLY CROSS AT THE CORNERS,ONLY WHEN THE LIGHT IS GREEN. IT IS FRIGHTING TO SEE CHILDREN OF ALL AGES TOTALLY NEGLECT ANY SAFETY PROCEDURES.

crossing @ a red light saves 10 seconds. But it can sometimes cost a life- it’s just not worth the risk

  • Big J

It’s not up to the police to remove the body. An investigator from the Medical Examiners office must first examine the body and then notify their van to pick up the body. That process can take hours.

This happened right in front of my apartment and I was looking out the window as the car came to a stretching halt after it hit the person.

During the time of the Friediker Rebbe (60 year ago, when EP was less busy!), there was a dormitory for the Yeshiva across EP. The Frierdiker Rebbe told Reb Shmuel Levitin: "Every time a Bochur crosses in the middle of the street ‘mein hartz geit oiss.’"

The importance of crossing at the corners only on "Walk" cannot be overstressed.

To all the EMT’s and Hatzalah guys out there:

"…but was pronounced dead as soon as the first Ambulance arrived…"

But was left on the Street.

Is that the EMT/rescue units protocal? if someone is pronounced dead at the scene, leave them on the floor?

    Dear Readers,

This accident is a real tragic one regardless of the person colour. This accident is personally tragic for me and my entire family since the person who lost her life was my wonderful mother in law. I last saw my her on August 16, when she left the Caribbean after a very relaxing vacation in her home land.

She will be truly missed by us all.

All u who are assuming that the lady was crossing in the middle of eaastern parkway or croosing with the light have not once mentioned that u were an eye witness. I think u all should get the facts, it could be that she got hit while crossing the right way and the impact was so hard that she got thrown in the middle of eastern parkway. We all know how busy the street gets.
