A man was struck and killed in Crown Heights Monday night while crossing the busy lanes of Eastern Parkway.

The incident took place on Eastern Parkway near Classen Ave around 9:00pm Monday, triggering a rush of emergency responders to what was at the time a chaotic scene.

Reports from the initial few minutes of the incident claimed that the man was found to be in traumatic arrest, not breathing, and without a pulse. First responders began providing CPR as EMS and Hatzalah rushed to the scene.

Despite earlier reports that the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene, the NYPD claims that the driver had parked his car on the Eastern Parkway service road and remained at the scene to speak with police.

EMS rushed the man to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Although Hatzalah had responded to the scene, the victim was not Jewish.
