Fatal MVA Shuts Down Eastern Parkway Sunday

A fatal MVA shut down Eastern Parkway Sunday morning, leaving one person dead and the roadway littered with debris.

According to the NYPD, one person was killed in the two car wreck with at least four others injured.

The person who died has been identified as an eighteen year-old who had been a passenger in the rear of one of the vehicles. A witness reported seeing CPR being done on the victim at the site of the crash.

The other victims of the crash were transported to local hospitals, where they were reported as being in stable condition.

No cause for the accident has yet been reported, and Eastern Parkway from Bedford to Rogers remained closed early Sunday morning as NYPD Highway investigates.

Update: The driver of one of the vehicles was taken into custody.

Update: According to the Police, a Hyundai Sonata driven by an 18-year-old male and a Toyota Solara driven by a 61-year-old woman were the vehicles involved in the crash. Two 19-year-old passengers and the 61-year-old driver were also injured, police said.
