Fender Bender On Kingston Turns Into Foot Chase On Eastern Parkway, One Arrested

by CrownHeights.info

A small fender bender on Kingston Ave morphed into a wreck and traffic Jam before ending with a foot chase Tuesday morning.

A previous report on CrownHeights.info touched on the story, reporting a crash that shut down Kingston Ave for a few minutes, but the story didn’t begin or end there.

The incident began in front of Eber’s Liquor a couple minutes before, when a Hatzalah volunteer was suddenly rear ended. Both drivers got out, and after a minute of cordial conversation, the Hatzalah volunteer mentioned that he would be calling the police due to damage to his vehicle. Knowing that, the driver jumped back into his car and attempted to “make his escape”. As anyone in Crown Heights can tell you, such is not really practical, or advised.

“The african-American driver rear-ended a Jewish man’s car near Khan’s,” a witness told CrownHeights.info. “He then attempted to flee, but he hit the white box-truck parked near Mendy’s.”

The car ended up getting its front end wedged underneath the truck, pretty much ending the cars ability to drive far.

The driver and his passenger fled on foot from there, the passenger making it across Eastern Parkway while the driver turned at the Eastern Parkway Service Lane, running directly in front of 770.

A group of bochurim were joined by a police officer stationed in front of 770, catching the driver before he reached Brooklyn Ave.

The driver was placed under arrest for multiple offenses, including driving without a license, Registration, Insurance, and fleeing the scene of an accident.
