Ft. Lauderdale, FL — A crane collapsed by Galt Ocean Drive in Ft. Lauderdale Saturday morning, crashing onto some power lines and damaging part of a synagogue.

The Chabad Lubavitch of Fort Lauderdale lost power due to the crane tipping over and snapping an electrical line providing power to the temple and other parts of the area.

Workers are blaming strong winds from Tropical Storm Barry causing the crane to topple. There were no injuries reported.

Crews have since pulled the crane upright.

Ronnie Cook, left, the building maintenance supervisor, and a member of the Chabad Lubavitch congregation inspect the synagogue’s mikvah, a building for ritual cleansing and immersion. A crane’s arm broke off from a condo site across the street in Fort Lauderdale.
