Car Skids Into Parked Cars on Crown Street

Last week Wednesday at around 5:00pm a white Cadillac driven by a 16 year old who only had a ‘Learners Permit’ rather then a Drivers License, attempted to make a right turn from Albany onto Crown and smashed into a parked Subaru and pushed it up onto the sidewalk and into three other parked cars. Witnesses stated that he had tried to take the turn at a high rate of speed.

B”H there was no one on the sidewalk at the time of the accident. Police officers on foot patrol arrived on scene within minutes followed by Hatzalah, the driver refused medical attention. A short questioning of the driver turned up that the car was not his and he wasn’t driving with a proper license, and police confiscated a pocket knife from his possession. He was issues two summonses.

    It was a black kid, I saw how he sped down Albany and tried to make the turn, the snow and the speed… i dont know what he was thinking but were lucky no one was walking on that part of the sidewalk at the time.

    I wonder what the owner of the white Cadillac was thinking to let a young fool without a license drive in such a nice car, or more likely the fool got ahold of the keys and did it without permission.

    Sorry to sound racist, but that car was probably owned by a drug dealer who is away on a State or Federally funded vacation. LeRoy left the keys on his girlfriend’s kitchen table when he had to report for sentencing, and his girlfriend’s brother or cousin (she isn’t quite sure which) Raheem took the car for a joy ride, with the results as seen.

    BH no one was hurt.

    When I was a young bochur and drove in Crown Heights like a maniac with rentals, Yankie Sufrin came up to my car at a red light and said and I quote. ” If u continue driving like a maniac I will smash ur windows! There are kids who live here and cross the street chas vesholem u should hit one!!! If u want to drive like a maniac go to – – – – – ( a different neighborhood) and drive like a lunatic there at least a yid vet nisht zein dein korbon.
    I took his words to heart and never drove like that again especially not in CH. I have given over that message to others and all it nneds is for all of us to stop the next maniac we see and let him have it.

    B’Hashgachah Protis…there were a few BR s walking, and suddenly decided to cross the street to the other side. Seconds later…the car crashed on that very spot they had just left!!!!
    We had more than enough tragedies recently.
    BH the Aibershter averted another big one, and saved the s!!!

    It has nothing to do with him being young, but more likely that he was inexperienced! I happen to be a 16 yr old girl, and I have a proper license and I am NOT a bad driver-and neither are any of my friends!!!
