Lubavitcher Miraculously Unharmed After Hit-n-Run

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — A Lubavitcher yungerman is lucky to be alive after nearly getting mowed down by a car which was attempting to flee the scene of an accident – missing him by just inches.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Brooklyn Avenue at around 6:00pm Sunday evening. A car waiting at a red light on Eastern Parkway was suddenly struck from behind at a very high speed, launching him into the intersection and colliding with a van that was traveling on Brooklyn Avenue.

The car then began a crazed attempt to flee the scene, nearly killing a man who was crossing the street.

Witnesses described the car as a dark green Buick or Pontiac sedan with significant front end damage fleeing from Brooklyn towards Kingston Avenues.

The man told CrownHeights.info “I was crossing in the crosswalk and I suddenly heard the bang and looked to my left and the car was coming right at me, I jumped out of the way and the car nearly hit me.”

One person was injured and treated by EMS.

Police are still searching for the car the fled the scene.

  • Observant Driver

The lights are screwed up on Eastern parkway and people are always trying to beat the yellow. Though the runaway car is totally in the wrong something should be done to set the signals in sink and not have to break and halt at every block intersection on what is called a parkway.

  • do it

they need to clean up the “nests” of crime pockets. they waited so long and now they don’t seem to want to deal with it.
the schools should also be reporting abuse and absences etc, more efficiently. alot can be done which is not.

  • Same Thing

Same Thing happened to me on the corner of Troy and Eastern Pkwy. I was walking back from the train, and a car was pulled over on Troy/Union. As I passed the first bodega store, i suddenly hear screeching tires and see the car which was pulled over flying past me on the sidewalk and unto Eastern Pkwy. By the time the cop finished his doughnut and got back into the car – the criminal was far far far away.
