Overturned Taxi Pins Pedestrian Under Roof

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — It was an unlucky morning for one person walking on Carroll Street: two cars – a taxi and a car service – collided, causing the taxi to rollover and trap him under its roof. Bystanders who rushed to give aid saved the man’s life.

The incident occurred at around 11:00am at the intersection of Carroll Street and Rogers Avenue, where the two vehicles both sped through the intersection and collided at high speed. One of the cars – a yellow taxi SUV – flipped over and came to rest on its roof, trapping one person underneath, while the other car lost control and smashed into a tree on the sidewalk.

Amid all the chaos, a number of witnesses sprang into action after they saw the man trapped underneath the taxi and together they flipped the vehicle on its side and freed the critically wounded man. He was rushed by EMS to Kings County Hospital, where doctors worked feverishly to save his life. A half hour later, police were notified that he is expected to survive.

The Taxi Drivers Are Chayos Ra’os. Total Animals. They should be ticketed and barred from driving.

I was hit by a taxi driver a couple of months ago. They are seriously horrible and are a daqnger out on the road. I dont feel safe walking around anymore, and behind the wheel doesnt feel too safe either.
Glad the person will be ok, but I feel for him. He is going to be in a lot of pain :(

It appears ‘our’ Mayor Michael Bloomberg approves of his police officers doing the job of tow truck drivers, the department of parks and the department of sanitation. I guess crime prevention is not the police department’s priority!!!
