Hit-n-Run Motorist Causes 3 Car Pileup; 5 Injured

Crown Heights [CHI] — A driver attempting to flee after crashing into a school bus caused even more carnage in the wake of his flight. In total, five people were hurt – one, a Lubavitcher Bochur, seriously – after the fleeing vehicle caused a three car pileup.

The incident began at the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Brooklyn Avenue at around 3:15pm. Witnesses told CrownHeights.info that a red SUV rear-ended a mini school bus and fled at a high rate of speed toward Kingston Avenue.

There, another eyewitness observed how the driver cut-off another car, a Black Ford Edge, forcing the driver into oncoming traffic where she slammed head-on into a Honda Civic driven by a Lubavitcher Bochur. Another vehicle, a minivan, slammed into the rear of the Honda, causing even more damage.

The Bochur was knocked unconscious; when Hatzalah began treating him he started coming to, but he continued to go in and out of consciousness. He was rushed to the hospital and is in serious condition.

A large number of emergency personal, both from Hatzalah and the FDNY, rushed to the scene and began treating the injured, two of whom are children. In a show of major Kiddush Hashem, Hatzalah treated three of the victims, two of which – a mother and daughter – are not Jewish.

Omg so many things happen on Eastern Parkway! just a few days ago a 17 year old who lives in Pomodori that delivers got hit by a car!

  • Silly

Why does the article have to point out they are not jewish ? .. I see Hatzalah responding to Emergencies all the time and the people are not exclusively Jewish.

  • In a show of major Kiddush Hashem?

Really? Isn’t is human decency? Could help expect to arrive at a scene like that and only treat Jewish injuries?

  • Tachlis people!

How is this listed on Eastern Pkwy and Brooklyn?

It clearly appears to be on Eastern Pkwy and Kingston….
(especially the pictures with the smoke coming out of the car.)

Good catch – just goes to show you that when you’re in any sort of collision (car or otherwise, ie sports, etc) you should never assume that you’re ‘fine’ just because you feel ok immediately afterwards. Adrenaline takes a while to wear off…

I hope everyone has an immediate recovery!

It is ridiculous that this whole incident gets reported and the most important thing – the name for tehillim – is ommitted. What is the point of this?

  • Update

    B”H
Heard the bochur has a broken sternum but is otherwise aok. And to CS (#10) if you read the article again you should see there was a first crash w/a mini school bus at EP & Brooklyn, and then when that red car was fleeing, this crash took place at by EP & Kingston.

what world do you live in? the bachur was not ok if he was going in and out of consciousness. that means he had (or still has) a head injury

i think the “blue pants” is , in fact, the jacket of the one attending to the girl. I think she was standing, and then
    needed help.

This article just goes to show that Hatzolah treats everyone of all different backgrounds and races equally. Al Sharpton should read this and many articles regarding Hatzolah, and then he will realize that it is not an aparthide ambulance service, which he claimed it to be during the Crown Heights Riots of 1991.
