What Was ESU Doing To That Burnt Car?

For the second time since last week, a small crowd gathered and watched as police officers from the Emergency Services Unit beat and cut up the charred shell of the BMW that has been on the corner of Empire and Kingston since Pesach.

Many wondered what it was that they were doing, and we reached out to officers from the unit who told us that they were simply training less experienced officers on how to use the ‘hurst tool’ which is also known as the ‘jaws of life’.

In serious accidents the passengers or driver can become trapped within the wreckage, and the jaws have proven to be an invaluable tool in for rescue workers to help save lives.

  • spoiling our beautiful streets

Now are they going to finally get rid of that unsightly carcass?

  • Cops, train in your own backyard!

How about towing that burnt wreck in front of one of the officer’s homes and perform their training exercises there? Why is this allowed to sit in our shechuna for weeks? Answer: No respect, no respect for those who pay their salaries and benefits and pensions that are so obscenely above and beyond those of private sector workers!

I am glad that the cops are getting some trainung but… can they please move it and clean up all the broken glass? It is a danger to people walking by and it is making our streets look horrible!

  • Drugs for Thugs

I have reported an abandoned car myself. First they have to prove it is abandoned etc etc etc. This one must have belonged to some drug dealer who is now either in the hospital, six feet under, or in the can.

Now it’ll be even harder to repair that car thanit already was! (kidding!)

crown heights already looks horrible. another beat up car isn’t going to make a difference.

Why are the police doing this? I thought they are supposed to protect us from the street thugs and our Firefighters are supposed to do the rescuing. This seems like a waste of resources.
