VIDEO: Frum Families Involved In Serious Thruway Crash

There was a major accident on the New York State Thruway involving three Frum families. The accident took place at about 5am early Wednesday morning. The families were on their way home, after spending time away for Pesach.

Yehuda Drudgestein writes for the Yeshiva World

While making the trip back to New York & Lakewood from Toronto following Pesach, three Frum families were all hospitalized after being involved in a serious collision.

Sources tell YWN that a dump-truck overturned on Interstate 90 Eastbound near exit 43 at approximately 5:00AM. At least 2 private vehicles were involved in the serious collision. (One vehicle was carrying 2 families, & the other was carrying one large family.)

One of the victims realized that there was no Hatzolah in the area, and following a call to 911, contacted Misaskim’s 24hr hotline for assistance.

Misaskim along with Special Assistant to the Superintendent of the NYSP Rabbi Bernard Freilich made many phone calls to the NYSP, the local hospitals, Toronto Hatzolah, numerous family members in Lakewood & Flatbush (NYC) were contacted, and a local Chabad Rabbi in Rochester, NY was mobilized.

As of this posting, a total of 17 people (from the three families) were taken to three different hospitals. 3 were frown by Medevac to a Level 1 trauma center. One infant is currently in emergency surgery. Boruch Hashem, it appears that everyone is in stable condition.

Further details will be posted as they become available to us.

Torontonian, thanks for the clarification. Truth be told I should be more in tuned to the fact that this is a predominantly a Chabad blog.

to yosef i appreciate your humane comment and the fact that there should be sensitivity shown to all life (EVEN THE MALACHIM WERE TOLD TO REFRAIN FROM SINGING WHEN THE MITZRIM DROWNED BY KREIAS YAM SUF) however to say that there is no difference if it is a yid or not is not recognizing family. not to appreciate the unique position of the yid who has a chelek elokah memal mamosh is to deprive yourself of your legacy.
