Disabled Driver Blacks Out, Crashes into Parked Cars

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — An elderly disabled driver crashed in to a number of parked cars on Union Street after dozing or blacking out this afternoon.

The incident took place on Union Street between Kingston and Albany Avenues at around 3:30pm today. The driver, a disabled elderly man, swiped a parked car and crashed in to a parked truck. There were no reported injuries. The driver told police that he does not know what happened and that he suddenly found himself crashed.

    What is his disability? Get older drivers off the road! And yes, I will turn in my license when I get to 65 (not so far away), assuming I still can drive safely till then. I can tell my reactions aren’t as sharp. I don’t even enjoy driving any more, it’s a necessity.

    I was standing on the sidewalk right next to him when it happened. It was so fast! One second a car coming down the street– the next moment a crash. He scraped against a parked car and then just drove right into a parked truck. It was very scary. He seemed very shaken and shocked. Thank G-d no one was hurt! The truck only seemed to have minor damage. His car was worse. Witnessing a sudden “crash” out of no-where shakes you up– makes you realize anything can happen in one second– we are always in Hashem’s hands who is forever protecting us….
