AD MOSSAI, WE NEED MOSHIACH NOW, AD MOSSAI, AD MOSSAI
Bubbie & Mommy
Every bus has a “monitor” on it – we parents have to insist that the monitor actually be OUTSIDE of the bus when our precious kinderlach are entering or leaving. The monitor must make a complete VISUAL check to make sure that no children are anywhere near the bus before the driver can pull away. And, if this costs us a few dollars more – could there possibly be a better “investment” ? We must call / meet with the hanhalla of all of our schools to put this into place IMMEDIATELY – no exceptions EVER !!! Do each of OUR buses have a pushka and Chitas ?

Bus Morah
To Bubby and Mommy: I am a Bubby and Mommy too, Boruch Hashem, AND a bus monitor. I do my best to watch and take care of your precious kinderlach, but I have to say that while so many parents are exceptionally responsible, some aren’t doing what they have to, when putting children on the bus.
During snow days, Mommy,Tatty, or babysitter should be accompanying the child all the way from your house to the steps of the bus, and the reverse, when arriving home.
Do make sure your child has skid proof boots, and put on your own boots if you must, to help your child get to the bus, over the piled up snow, and ice.
Do not stand ineffectively in your summery crocs and cotton robe in the doorway, while your child is having difficulty climbing over mountains of snow and sheets of ice, or worse, leave your child to wait for the bus on his/her own outside.
Do not depend on or “pass the buck” to the monitor, it is your responsibility! Together, we can keep the children safe.
With tefilah to Hashem to guard all our yiddishe kinderlach from harm in His infinite mercy.
to Bubby & Mommy
What you are saying would be helpful, but not in this story.
The boy was playing on the sidewalk next to the back of the bus and slipped on the snow and slid under the bus next to the back wheel. No one, including a very careful driver or bus monitor would have been able to see this.
It was a freak accident.

my daughter goes to school each day with a small yellow bus from DOPT. There is never a day that the matron does not get off the bus to let her on and off the bus. As soon as i heard on the news that a child was struck by bus in brooklyn i figured it would be BP or Williamsburg. There needs to be better safety standard on the frum buses! The precious neshamas are our children that we need to watch over very carefully! Please lets be careful! I understand it was a freak accident..but we still neeed to excecise caution!
