Pedestrian Struck Crossing the Parkway
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — It’s the second incident in less then ten days where a Bochur crossing eastern parkway in the middle was run down by a passing car. The most recent incident happened this afternoon at around 2:15pm when an Israeli Bochur attempted to cross in the middle of the street near 770.
Hatzalah and EMS responded, and treated the victim who suffered an injury to his leg, then transported him to a local hospital for further treatment.
The last incident also involved an Israeli Bochur who was hit at high speed and suffered serious injuries.
Be Safe Be Smart!
strange isnt it that this site was warning people about that by showing pictures and all some people had to say was “is the guy taking these pictures bored, does he sit all day taking pictures of people crossing in middle of the street”
well now you all know why those pictures and warning were posted!!!
safety
now is the time to build a bridge to 770, so people can run across the street! Maybe we can get our “new” mayor to implement this bridge for a very busy Eastern Parkway.
He should have listened
Red light red light what do you mean?
I mean wait til the light turns green.
He should have listened to Uncle Moishie.
YESHIVAH BUCHER
STOP THIS MADDNISS CROSS AT THE WALK WAYS ITS ANOTHER 5 MIN.
abba
to safety:
I like that idea.
THIS HAS TO STOP
We’re talking about young people’s LIVES !! I don’t care which Bais Din does it – our new Vaad should take care of getting a Psak by TOMORROW that crossing Eastern Parkway in the middle of the block is USSAR !! The Vaad should get Lubavitcher Rabbonim in Israel to join in so that no Chabad parents should have to deal with a totally unecessary TRAGEDY G-d Forbid.
moshe zalman
I hate to say this during these days that “Mosrim”from 749 are busy in court inocent Bochrim are being hurt!!!!! Hashem yirachem.
be safe
why do any of that just be normal and look
driver AND pedestrian
To safety:
Instead of a bridge, how about a pedestrian light in the middle of the block? But honestly, it won’t make much of a difference. If people are stupid enough to cross in the middle of such a busy street nothing will stop them. What will make them stop? When someone gets killed. Is that what will put an end to this?
Who’s paying for this bochur’s treatment? And how is he today?
charley
JJ,
Keep up the good work!!
You look younger now than when you were in camp!!
Charley from the “wading pool”
hello?
when will these kids learn. is it that hard to take the extra few steps to the light?
sc
why can’t people just cross at the crosswalk & wait for the light? A bridge? what a stupid idea.
Take charge of your own life
You know those signs “Enter at your own risk”, they should post “Cross at your own risk” in the middle of the block!
Bruceleh
He must have forget to put on his yellow pin before he left 749. Or forgot to say “Yechi” before he crossed. Or forgot that Tzfati bochurim mekushar to the Rebbe are not, contrary to popular opinion, invincible.
Adam Curry
The guy was just trying to copy Benny Friedman – give him a break…..
happy
there not kids they should know how to cross
schwei
was it Mendy Hendel?
To Adam Curry
That’s funny !! I happen to like the idea of a walking bridge that way none will get hurt!!
Isaac
Oh my my. Quit the jesting idiots, a Jew got really hurt. A Refuah Shleima.
ANOMEIS

poor kid
poor guy.. everyone talking bad about him (excecpt ‘safety’). imagine how he feels…
smarty pants
We should have gates/railings up alongside the pkwy just like Utica, then u just gotta cross by the lights – unless ur gona jump over the gates / railings!!
............
GUYS!!! SSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHH!!! SOMEONE GOT HURT!
...
this is free comedy. I’m loving it lol
mb
if these ISRAEL bochurim are old enough to travel alone (without parents), they are old enough to understand it safer to crass at the crosswalk and wait for the green.
this stupidity dows exhist elsewhere in our community, ie, yesterday afternoon about 2pm, i was in my car on kingston backing into a parking spot, and a mother who had 3 sons with her, instructed them to cross in the middle of kingston, behind my moving car and ORDERED me to STOP. she was 5 steps from the corner but had to cross in the middle, as well as her car was parked on the corner
this is what i call stupid and teaches our kids to just cross wherever they want and do what they please.
Comment
1) I feel sorry for the guy and hope he gets well soon.
2) (kind of like everyone else said) this comes as no surprise…every time I drive I see people crossing through traffic it’s innevitable that this would happen.
3) To “this has to stop” No, the Rabbi’s should not mix in. That would just make them less respected in the community. When Rabbis start going beyond their areas of experties into endorsing (political stances and or) catchy ideas (like you’re suggesting) it takes away from their effectiveness for Halachik matters.
just saying..
lets just make sure he gets better and take it as a lesson not to walk in middle of the street.
anomunys
to he should have listened:
very cute but true!
TIP
have patience when you cross
WHAT AN IDIOT!!!
I dont feel sorry for this guy one bit.
The speed limit might be 30 or 35mph, but cars easily drive 50 -60 mph.
No one would get hit at this intersection if they just stopped and waited for the light to turn red.
What was the lesson that all parents teach their kids??? Oh yeah, “look both ways before you cross the road!!!!”
I have no sympathy, he is a moron and so is everyone else that crosses the intersection in the middle of the block.
Idea
Hatzala doesn’t charge but they still have expenses. If we started charging those who are negligent (poshea) then they would think twice.
