Police officers on foot patrol nearby heard the accident and ran over to the scene calling for EMS and Emergency Services to extricate one of the drivers who was trapped inside the wreckage.

Within minutes FDNY arrived on scene and had the driver out of the car seconds later, using the ‘jaws of life’ to cut away parts of the car and removing the driver, who was promptly transported along with the second driver to Kings County Hospital where they were both listed in stable condition. Bother drivers were Black males.

The force of the impact roused nearby residents who gathered outside and watched emergency responders work in the twisted wreck.

Two years ago this corner was the scene of a terrible accident which claimed the lives of two black teens when their car collided with the traffic signal pole, splitting their car in half.

The driver of the gray SUV was observed taking the red light crossing over Nostrand at high speed and t-boning a white SUV sending it flying into the corner store then into a parked car where both vehicles came to rest.

  • Concerned!

Our FDNY Firemen always respond quickly! The story says that the police called for an ambulance and the police emergency wagon. Why would they not also call the Firemen at the same time? It seems like they are putting us in danger if they are neglecting to call our Firemen immediately for such situations.

I’m glad that FDNY somehow found out about this tragedy and arrived quickly.

They are good people and they save lives! THANK YOU!
