Cyclist Struck and Injured on Empire Blvd.
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Today, Tuesday at about 8:30am, a cyclist was stuck and injured on Empire Boulevard between Brooklyn and Kingston, the incident took place as the cyclist passed a truck who suddenly opened his door and in attempt to swerve and avoid it he went into the path of a minivan and was struck.
A Shomrim member happened to be there right as it happened and called 911, in the meantime he sprung into action and stabilized the patient all the while talking to him and making sure he doesn’t loose consciousness.
More pictures in the Extended Article.
Other bystanders came to aid as well as an EMT who pulled out his equipment bag and gave treatment until FDNY and EMS arrived.
The tragic accident served as a big Kiddush Hashem with Shomrim members, bystanders and Hatzalah who were there first giving first aid to a non Jewish victim.

There are places like eastern parkway, bedford ave, ocean parkway…
where they have bike lanes but when there aren’t bike lanes cyclist must ride on the right side on the street, it’s the law.

I must admit it is nice to see this posted on CH.info might I suggest you always post these instances as I know they are not so rare. hatzolo members are constantly taking calls from non-jews in most areas and overall they really do treat others including blacks.
It is a misconception that we treat only our own.
While most calls are from within, we are a volunteer organization after all, and most calls are from the religous orthodox neighborhoods etc.
Nice you were on the spot to record this – keep it up guys.

Why don’t you send this to Sharptons office

Most people don’t know it but…
that is the law, if you are 12 and over you must ride on the street.
I have almost gotten hit a lot of times by cyclist on the sidewalk and I feel a lot safer riding on the street.
Shmuel
if the injured would’ve been a yid would you also publish his photos over the internet?
what is the big talk about kiddush hashem? it is expected of anyone with medicl credentials not to deny treatment of another human being. both from the halachic prespective and the humanitarian one.
Mad Parent
It’s crazy in the last few weeks the cops in the 71st precinct has given out so many tickets to young kids riding their bike on the sidewalk, the cops need to take a break for giving tickets for no reason.
to truth
because sharpton would claim we stole the victims wallet or some other garbage.
Shomrim Good Men
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
Thank you Shomrim,
keep up the good work.
Thank you Aron H. for making sure I got a seat on the school bus and helping me out with the bullies.
May Hashem bless all our good men with all that they may need B’rochneos/ b’gashmeos, with health, wealth and happiness.
May you only be involved in doing Chesed
(crime should not even be a factor).
