The two vehicles collided and the van ended up on the sidewalk and both cars were disabled.
Witnesses immediately called 911 and Hatzalah all of whom arrived on scene within moments, but the lack of professionalism on the police’s behalf reared its ugly head on scene.
One Hatzalah member immediately walked up to the police car and began giving care to one of the officers and just as he began stabilizing Sgt. Walls of the 71st Precinct walked up to the member and told him to “take his s*** and move away”, the member was taken aback and walked away.
Other Hatzalah members evaluated the driver and passenger from the van, both of which did not require medical attention, B”H.
After the sergeant gave Hatzalah the boot some 7 members were seen standing on the side along with other curious onlookers instead of giving the care they are supposed to.
After 7 minutes the first EMS ambulance arrived on scene and 25 minutes later the second ambulance arrived on scene. Both officers were transported to Kings County Hospital for checkup and observation.

Those police are racist. Why on Earth would they refuse Hatzoloh help? They were there within minutes and are known to have a superb track record. I can think of no other reason.
I would like to hear their answer to this.
EMT
Obviousley the NYPD officers were not injured since they told Hatzalah to go away. They just went with FDNY EMS to the hospital to take sick leave. We love you Hatzalah you do an amazing job. It just shows the true colors of the NYPD.
Crown Heights Needs Change Forthwith
The new rookies assigned to the 71st precinct some of the have a nasty attitude that need to be changed. They need to bring Courtesy Professionalism Respect back or there not going to last very long in the precinct or in the New York City Police Department for that matter cause people are going to complain to IAB and CRRB. They need to keep the trust of community if they still want a job here.
And no not all the new cops are bad just a few have this cocky attitude and I don’t like it one bit that they don’t show respect to the community.
And yes some people think there above and beyond to receive a ticket for different violation.
They have
EMT-B
if the cops treat us like 2nd class citizens, why would any of our dear neighbors treat us differently??? as per NYS law, first ems to show up to the scene is obligated to care for all patients. the Sgt. can scream from today to tomorrow he is not in charge of a medical scene. and therefore Hatzala should have treated and transported the cops as well. Sgt. walls, as far that i know does not have any emergency medical training, he should have left the scene to the professionals.
a lubavitcher
the police such chutzpah hatzalah we are sooooo proud of you
Boruch
Looks like Sergeant Walls left a stinking impression of what a police officer stands for… his ugly ungrateful attitude towards Hatzalah reaks and he should be ashamed of himself!!! Probably having a bad day at the precinct or road rage whatever, there’s no excuse for not being a menstch on the police force. I believe this is an isolated cop who doesn’t want to be upped one by Jewish rescuers!! FEH FEH FEH!!!
winner
wow,our precinct is comprised of a real bunch of winners especially “Sgt.” Walls. I mean why would anyone entrust you with anything?!?! Your officers are sitting in their RMP,post MVA and all your little brain can think of is to tell Hatzolah, which by the way wanted to treat and help your officer’s, is “take your s*** and move away”?!?!?!?! Watch the media turn this thing around and try to pin this on Hatzolah “not helping and just standing by…etc etc”

I think Sgt Walls shoulb be reported to his precinct. Let’s see how the new deputy lt deals with this!
We Want Moshiach Now!
Not all the police are bad. Last week my son was 45 minutes late from coming home I waited at his bus stop for 20 min. the bus never showed. I went home and he wasn’t there. So I went looking for him, a police officer noticed I was worried asked me if everything was alright. I told him about my son. Baruch Hashem, he saw him 1 block ahead from me, walking home. He went on a trip and he was later the usual. I thank the officer. Not all are bad.
mendy
Rabbossai,
the good Sgt should be charged with obstructing medical personnel under NYS law, and arrested. His obvious racism may have caused his officers’ injuries to exacerbate. ABove comment is correct taht 1st EMY on scene is in charge.
wondering
Just wondering if the cruiser had its flashing lights on, shouldn’t the van have stopped to let the cruiser pass first?
sick of these lousy cops
Meanwhile…how’s the Yid?
Next case…was this cop from the 71st? Has the driver & Hatzalah made a FORMAL complaint?
Finally…why isn’t the media alerted? This makes US look good & we need all the PR we can get!
concernd newyorker
why do the police think they are above the law they go throw red lights (when not on emergency) they park illegally they do illegal monomers and no one stands up and says you are there to enforce the law not brake the law
if you ever see police brake the law call 311 and complain get the number of there car or even better their badge number.
Yossi
It doesn’t matter if the cruiser had it’s lights on and even if he had his sirens blaring.
If the Police Car crossed a RED light he is at fault.
rg
just wondering why the cruisers lights were on (without a siren) when they weren’t in an emergency call?
just trying to get through traffic?
ahh, thought so.
Yehoshua
To the yungerman:
PLEASE do us all a favor and PRESS CHARGES against the police!
(You could probably find a Jewish lawyer who won’t charge money until you win money – so beside the favor to the community, you could end up with some gelt!)
upset resident
i was driving down brooklyn and maple on sunday were the cars we’r vandeld on shabbos and a little black kid threw a rock at my car. may gd pay all these anti semits back with double then they can imagin. and if we dont act now we are asking for a dissaster.
TO: Crown Heights Needs Change Forthwith
B“H
You are right about the attitude and policy problems with the police.
However, you are naive to think that complaints to the IAB and CRRB are going to affect anyone’s career in this department.
Halevai that:
”They need to keep the trust of community if they still want a job here.“
Unfortunately, the more they intimidate us, the more they are doing what is OFFICIAL POLICY throughout the entire NYPD (not just in Crown Heights).
We are dealing with a ”Dinkins administration mentality“ now, where the ”powers that be“ feel that the less they can make of citizen complaints by non-blacks, the more they can prevent race riots by the black community.
And it’s not just minimizing of the hostilities from non-Jews that we Yidden experience, R”L“. There are several frum people here who have experienced police brutality, mamosh, in return for their attempts to report hate crime behavior against them by blacks. When a Yid experiences something like this, do you think our non-Jewish politicians are going to take up the cause? Nehn!
I know whereof I speak, because it happened to someone in my family, and since then, several others have come out from hiding to commiserate with us.
Yes, it is true that, as you say,
”They need to bring Courtesy Professionalism Respect back . . . “ AND
”. . . they don’t show respect to the community.”
But don’t hold your breath waiting for it to change.
GEULA NOW!!!
38 YR RESIDENT OF THE HOOD
this how the riots in 91 started ,when a female police offcer told hatzola to leave with the jewish driver ,when he wanted to give care to gavin kato ..then the news turn the big lie that hatzalo did not want to help the blk kid . the police r @ fault one more time
FlatbushDad
all of you need to chill – none of you got this one either I see. Here’s my take; simple – obviously they were in the wrong (the cops) and did not want hatzolo around lol – we came too fast – they needed time to work on the story, plan of action and of course the cops were not really hurt – trust me they were not!
So evevryone just ignore this one b/c I know H treated many cops – all were serious calls – they know that too. This Wall guy is obvioulsy unloved at home and on the job and let it out on the H guy. Luckily most of us are smarter then him.
Crown Height Needs Help Forthwith
The City of New York has no fault insurance so if they get an accident they don’t have to worry about who is at fault.
And no not all cops are bad. But I’ve seem to notice that most of the new cops that just graduated from the police academy have a cocky attitude cause most of them don’t live in they city they either live upstate or on the island which doesn’t help this city and the cops that do live in the city have criminal records.
shagon wagon
wahoo!!!!!!!! thats our van! yay go taxi service :).
gunshot! no you stupid its shotgun
go M.T.S. da best driver!
bowling bowling bowling
I luv gan izzy queens!
Another Know it all!
FYI…
At night Police try to be curtious to the neighbors and not use their Sirens but their lights, which I think is great (as long as there is an emergency) or blare them when heading to an intersection.
If the Police Vehicle was in fact heading to an emergency he is still required to yield at an intersection, hence he would be at fault.

Nicely put.
It really annoys me to see how extreme
and stupid people think in Crown heights. The cop was probably not hurt
and didn’t want the attention. He has to call EMS so he decided to just wait for them, why does everyone have to turn this into another anti-semitic incident?
AGAIN I will say this, no matter what the story people will always be commenting that it’s because they hate “Jews”.
SAD, Truly SAD.
To Pentax
Pentax,
Just to clarify one thing so you don’t begin by taking your usual approach: I do not belong with the people you seem to enjoy grousing about, so maybe now you can hear me out without jumping to negative conclusions:
Your comment had some merit, but in such a situation, there are two ways to go about doing things, the first being to politely say they are not needed, and the second is using foul language to get the point across. If the latter was indeed employed, one would assume that a certain degree of anger was present, and one would certainly question that. There are two sides to each coin, and if you only see one side, that is also truly sad.

Pentax:
Ok I get that but again why jump and
say he is Anti-Semitic?
Maybe he just didn’t like that guy or
he wanted pros who do it for a living?
I’m not saying Hatzolah members are not great but I did speak to some cops they told me what a great thing you guys do,they also said they would rather get E.M.S. WHY? I don’t know but I doubt it’s because they hate Jews.
