Young Teen Struck by a Car

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A young teen was struck by a car while crossing an Eastern Parkway service lane. The incident took place Thursday afternoon at around 3:00pm between Albany and Kingston Avenues.

A staff member from the Darchai Menachem school who is also a Shomrim member witnessed how the 14 year old teen, who was not Jewish, darted out from in between two parked cars and a passing car, driven by a Hispanic, attempted to stop but couldn’t and ran over the teen.

The Shomrim member immediately called 911, and Hatzalah arrived on scene as well and began treating the victim for what appeared to be a broken leg along with serious cuts and bruises to his arm and body. As Hatzalah began moving the victim into the Hatzalah ambulance EMS arrived on scene.

The scene was yet again that of great Kiddush Hashem where Hatzalah gave emergency care to a victim that wasn’t Jewish. The victim was transported to Kings County Hospital to receive further treatment.

  • Nice job!

Smart move…JJ’s wearing surgical gloves. This all shows how much quicker Hatzalah is than EMS.

Of course, the family contacted Hatzlah to say thanks, right??? LOL

This is unfortunately not surprising. As someone who lives on Eastern Pkwy, there have been MANY times that while driving through the service lane, people have come darting out from in between cars, completely unexpectedly giving me or other drivers little or no time to stop the car. This is especially true of the area by the mikvah on E.P.
PLEASE PLEASE, PLEASE take the extra few seconds to look out and see if anyone is driving up the road before you walk out. It may just be the differencebetween life and death.
