Video: Waging the Battles of the House of David

Today, 20 Cheshvan, marks the birthday of the fifth Rebbe of Chabad, the Rebbe Rashab.

From the very beginnings of the Chassidic Movement, select students of the Baal Shem Tov and the Maggid were entrusted with the task to “disseminate the wellsprings of Chassidism to the outside.”

In 1900, the Rebbe Rashab gave an historic address. He entrusted the students of his Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva in Lubavitch to “wage the battle of the House of David” — to save the Jewish People from assimilation, and hasten Moshiach’s coming. Later, when the Yeshiva expanded and branched out, Chassidic laymen began to answer the Rebbe Rashab’s “call to arms” as well.

Today, this directive applies to every single man and woman. Every word of the Rebbe’s talk is addressed to them. And though the Rebbe’s call applies all year round, on his birthday his Mazel shines most strongly and extra spiritual strengths are bestowed.
