8:00pm: Whom Does 770 Belong To?

This week’s edition of MyLife: Chassidus Applied with Rabbi Simon Jacobson, Episode 47, will air tonight, Sunday, here on CrownHeights.info beginning at 8:00pm. This week Rabbi Jacobson will address the following topics: Whom does 770 belong to? Women’s Place: Home or Work? Identity of Moshiach; Jewish Converts; Trust After Betrayal; Learning Rambam.

“Listen to what the lichtelech – the flames – tell us,” instructs the Frierdiker Rebbe. The flickering Chanukah candles contain many lessons about ourselves and our world. Tune in this Sunday night as Rabbi Jacobson applies the teachings of Chassidus about Chanukah licht to practical lessons in our personal lives, how to face challenges, find hope, grow and reach our full potential. Learn, for example, how a flask of pure oil teaches us how to regain trust after betrayal, and how to recover after being let down by mentors and companions.

In this episode 47, Rabbi Jacobson will also share some more thoughts on the identity of Moshiach and on the topic of 770, the recent attack there and our response and role in building achdus in the Rebbe’s shul.

Other topics to be addressed are: Should I and how can I make learning Rambam a priority?

How should one deal with the “competition” associated with the greater success of another’s peulos and of other mosdos? Is the role of women today to remain at home raising children or also to work? As a ger, I have a deep-seated fear that I don’t have a Jewish neshama. Is there a way to know? Are Geirim different?

This hour-long dose of insight is meant to inform, inspire and empower us by applying the teachings of Chassidus to help us face practical and emotional challenges and difficulties in our personal lives and relationships. MyLife: Chassidus Applied addresses questions that many people are afraid to ask and others are afraid to answer. When asked about the sensitive topics he has been addressing, Rabbi Simon Jacobson commented, “I understand that the stakes are high, but the silence and lack of clarity on matters plaguing the community can no longer go unaddressed. The stakes of not providing answers are even higher.”

The on-going series has provoked a significant reaction from the community, with thousands of people viewing each live broadcast and hundreds of questions pouring in. At the root of every question and personal challenge tackled by the series is the overarching question: Does Judaism have the answers to my personal dilemmas?

In inimitable “Jacobson-fashion”, the broadcast answers people’s questions in simple, clear language while being heavily sourced. Each episode is jam-packed with eye-opening advice from the Rebbeim, gleaned from uncovering surprising gems in their letters, sichos and maamorim that address our personal issues with disarming relevance.
