8:00pm: What We Can Do About the Tragedy in Har Nof

This week’s edition of MyLife: Chassidus Applied with Rabbi Simon Jacobson, Episode 44, will air tonight, Sunday, here on CrownHeights.info beginning at 8:00pm. This week Rabbi Jacobson will address the following topics: What Can We Do about the Tragedy in Har Nof; Looking at Yourself Honestly; Being Overly Critical; Dealing with the Homeless; Ohel on Shabbos?

How to channel our outrage over the murder of our brothers in Israel? What can we do?

It’s easy to blame the world and be critical of others, but what about looking at ourselves and recognizing when we are in the wrong? How exactly does one go about zeroing in and correcting a particular character flaw? Is there a certain time during davening when we should focus on this? Are there guidelines to dealing with people who are not willing to look at themselves?

Tune in this Sunday night, November 23, to My Life: Chassidus Applied episode 44, in which Rabbi Jacobson will address these questions. He will also discuss the appropriate way to treat beggars and a parent’s relationships with their children. I am struggling in my marriage and with my kids because rather than seeing the good, I only focus on their deficiencies. What can I do differently to not be overcritical? How do we impart qualities we don’t have to our children?

Additionally, this episode will be following up on the discussion of favoritism: What can a parent do when they actually favor one child over another? Also: Is there an issue with those who spend Shabbos and Yomtov at the Ohel?

This hour-long dose of insight is meant to inform, inspire and empower us by applying the teachings of Chassidus to help us face practical and emotional challenges and difficulties in our personal lives and relationships. • How do you impart what you don’t have to your children?
  • Should we be going to the Ohel on Shabbos and Yom Tov?
  • Favoritism: From a parent’s perspective (follow-up)

MyLife: Chassidus Applied addresses questions that many people are afraid to ask and others are afraid to answer. When asked about the sensitive topics he has been addressing, Rabbi Simon Jacobson commented, “I understand that the stakes are high, but the silence and lack of clarity on matters plaguing the community can no longer go unaddressed. The stakes of not providing answers are even higher.”

The on-going series has provoked a significant reaction from the community, with thousands of people viewing each live broadcast and hundreds of questions pouring in. At the root of every question and personal challenge tackled by the series is the overarching question: Does Judaism have the answers to my personal dilemmas?

In inimitable “Jacobson-fashion”, the broadcast answers people’s questions in simple, clear language while being heavily sourced. Each episode is jam-packed with eye-opening advice from the Rebbeim, gleaned from uncovering surprising gems in their letters, sichos and maamorim that address our personal issues with disarming relevance. Simultaneously, Rabbi Jacobson is able to crystallize a concept quickly, succinctly, and poignantly for any level of listener.

Rightly said about the story with my father with the Rebbe.
Also as it says in the Zohar part of the Maane Loshen that on Yomai D’pagra we don’t go to the Kivrai Tzadikim ie: the Ohel
