New Shluchim to Virginia

From the Prince William Times:

Rabbi Shmuly Perlstein and his wife, Goldie Perlstein, have announced their plans to move to Gainesville to open the first Jewish Community Center in the area, Chabad Gainesville.

“We’ve been visiting the greater Gainesville area over the last year, and we’ve met with a number of Jewish families in the area,” the rabbi said in a news release. “The community asked if we could move down to establish a Chabad center. We decided to accept the challenge.”

Chabad is a Jewish outreach movement based in Brooklyn. There are now more than 3,000 Chabad centers worldwide and more than 1,100 in the United States, according to the news release. The Perlsteins will join a network of six other Northern Virginia Chabad rabbis to open the Gainesville center, the newest in the state, they said in the news release.

“The new Chabad center will serve as an all-inclusive Jewish home, servicing the Jewish needs of the greater Gainesville area,” they news release says. “Holiday services, Hebrew school, Shabbat dinners and community events will all run from the new location, which is set to open in time for the upcoming Jewish High Holidays.”
