2,500 Guests Attending Government Gala Eat Kosher

Some 2500 guests, including most members of the German government, members of parliament, ambassadors, presidents and leaders in communities participated in the official gala event commemorating 50 years of the diplomatic relations between Germany and Israel.

German President Joachim Gauck spoke of the historic responsibility of Germany for Israel and Israeli President Reuven Rivlin shared his view of the Jewish pride and identity and of a need for a strong approach to intolerance and antisemitism.

Following the concert which was arranged in the berliner philarmonie a reception for all the guests took place. One of the top kosher caterers in Berlin was working 3 days around the clock together with a team of supervising mashgichim to ensure the mega event will be served with kosher meals according to the highest standards, all under the certification of Rabbi Yehuda Teichtal – the rabbi of the Jewish community of Berlin.

“Indeed it was a great Kiddush Hashem – sanctification of G-d’s Name. This very fact that so many people were eating kosher this evening is a blessing and a sign of am Israel Chai!” noted Rabbi Teichtal.

President Rivlin personally thanked Rabbi Teichtal and Rabbi Shmuel Segal, the director of operations arranging the event to be kosher.

The event was officially hosted by the German government president’s office. A number of other smaller VIP events related to the occasion were also catered kosher.
