Shloshim for Reb Meilach to Be Held in Morristown

A gathering to mark the Shloshim – 30 days – since the passing of beloved Mashpia Rabbi Elimelech Zwiebel, OBM, will take place Tuesday evening in Morristown, NJ.

Rabbi Zwiebel, a renowned and beloved Mashpia for over 50 years, passed away on 19 Cheshvan at the age of 75.

The Shloshim gathering will be held Tuesday night, 20 Kislev, December 20, at the Berger Auditorium in the Rabbinical College of America, Morristown, NJ, from 8 to 9:30 pm, followed by a farbrengen. There will be a live broadcast of the event.

The gathering will be addressed by prominent guest speakers, including Rabbi Moshe Herson, Rabbi Simon Jacobson, Rabbi Nochum Kaplan, Rabbi Elyokim Wolff, Rabbi Zalman Wilschanski, Rabbi Shlomo Zarchi and some of Rabbi Zwiebel’s children.

“It is Jewish tradition that one of the main undertakings for the memory and elevation of the soul, is the writing of a Torah scroll.

“It is noteworthy that our sages tell us that someone’s passing is analogous to a Torah scroll that has been burned (particularly if it is a Torah scholar – and similarly a righteous woman- because (see Talmud Kesubos 17a) “the removal of Torah is compared to the giving of the Torah).

“Accordingly one can suggest that the “Tikun” (rectification and compensation) is through writing a new Torah Scroll.” (ספר השיחות תשמ”ט – חלק א)

Reb Meilech faithfully devoted 52 years of his life to his Shlichus – Torah. As we approach his shloshim, you are invited to perpetuate his legacy with the writing of a new Sefer Torah.
