“I Don’t Need Any Help”… Said No Single Mom Ever

Ever hear a single mother say “Nobody ever judges me or my family,” or “I’ve got it all under control”? Juggling everything all on their own, most single moms carry a double load. You can give them a much needed hand by participating in the 30-hour Bais Chana Women International fundraiser for Single Jewish Moms taking place over the next 24-hours.

“This is just what I’ve always hoped for.”

“Nobody ever judges me or my family.”

“I’ve got it all under control.”

Ever hear a single mom you know utter any of these phrases? Unlikely.

Juggling everything all on their own, most single moms carry a double load. You can give them a much needed hand by participating in the 30-hour Bais Chana Women International fundraiser for Single Jewish Moms Sunday, October 9 and Monday, October 10.

With a 200k goal and every dollar matched by a generous donor, your donations will go toward scholarships for Bais Chana’s single mom retreats (for which 99% of our participants get financial aid), as well as ongoing resources such as year-round webinars, classes, and continued personal emotional support.

Their retreats, geared toward the practical, feature uplifting sessions on Chassidic thought and breakthough workshops on parenting and finances, emotional and physical fitness, art, and health.

“This honestly wasn’t the life I was expecting,” said Gail, an attendee at a recent retreat. “I wished, and still do wish, for a happily ever after. Thankfully, since getting involved with Bais Chana, I’m working through so much of past hurt now. And my children are happier too.”

The vast majority of women Bais Chana serves are dealing with financial crises due to legal fees and/or the high cost of raising a family on a single parent income. Children too struggle with the emotional stress and upheaval in their lives, sometimes experiencing difficulties socially or scholastically. Since 2011, Bais Chana Women International has stepped in with a holistic approach to address these concerns and the success of Bais Chana has been recognized by GuideStar and GreatNonprofits ranking among the top ten nonprofits empowering women in the USA.

“I left the retreat with clarity I couldn’t get anywhere else,” says Allison, another retreat attendee. All of this, plus “a new group of friends who have been on the same journey, helped me get back in the driver’s seat of my own life.”

“Strong Jewish communities are made up of strong Jewish families. That’s why supporting single moms is ultimately good for the whole Jewish Family. It’s that simple, ” says Bais Chana executive director Hinda Leah Sharfstein. “When your outlook shifts and you realize how strong you actually are, it has a huge effect on everyone. The whole family does a 180.”

    is this for the children?

why do you discriminate against single fathers?

when father has custody usually its due to mother being unfit and abusive so more help is needed than a “regular” single parent.

having jewish organisations to help in these matters is most important.
but ignoring single fathers just feels like a punch in the gut.

i dont need any help or feel judged said no sinlge father ever.

keep up the holy work and include all single parents regardless of gender.
