Picture of the Day: Improvised Airport Sukkah

Yeshiva World News published this photo of a Chabad Chossid in Moscow International Airport en-route to New York City. Not wanting to eat outside of a Sukkah, the man devised a makeshift Sukkah using luggage trolleys and a bamboo mat.

Is the Sukkah kosher – at least ‘B’di’eved’?

What do you think?

Lot’s of Israeli tishtei guests came through sherementyevo because aeroflot has deal with Israel. They all complain that noone got an idea to set up the sukkah at sherementyevo

The מעמיד for סכך has to have grown in the ground, & the מעמיד for his סכך is metal / plastic

I don’t think it’s kosher the walls aren’t close enough together (but it’s hard to tell from the picture) and it’s definitely 7*7 and 10*10. BUT that’s not the point not all Jews are well versed in the intricacies of the structure of a Sukah even in the kitchen it’s one of the few places he explicitly says these laws are difficult and many and if the Sukah is slightly different than the standard 4 walls ask a Rav.
The Kidush Hashem here is that this man even though probably exempt from eating in the Sukah for those who know (There are many exemptions) he went out of his way and squished himself inside that small space to try HIS best to fulfill the word of the Most High!!!!
Wouldn’t it be great if more people were as sincere.
