Picture of the Day: ‘He Merited to See the Lubavitcher Rebbe’

A photo of a unique headstone has been making its rounds on social media. The Matzeiva, belonging to a man named Ezra Mualem who passed away back in 2009 at the age of 79, reads: “he merited to see the Lubavitcher Rebbe.”

The location of the headstone, and the story behind it, remain unclear. If you have any information as to who this man was and the circumstances behind his encounter with the Rebbe, please leave a comment below or contact us at news@crownheights.info.

This is obviously an American Matzeiva, and it’s also obvious that Mrs. Mualem is alive. A little online detective work should get the results. Please share.

Food for thought: do we appreciate our tremendous zchus being “Dem Rebben’s Kinder” as much as Mr. Ezra Mualem appreciated one encounter with The Rebbe?

Just very recently I saw an answer from the Rebbe (trying to find it now) saying to “put on the matzeiva that he had a Shaychus to the Rebbe (Rayatz) and or chabad or Lubavitch”

Copied from the Rebbe’s letter brought in Kfar Chabad Magazine # 1602 page 46 last column.

and as you can see “most” Chabad Matzeivos mention “Rebbe”…

He lived in Hallandale and saw the Rebbe… chances are, Raphe Tennenhouse knows the story here.
