Morristown Yeshiva Celebrates Siyum

Hanholas Hayeshiva of Tomchei Temimin in Morrisotwn, Bochurim and local community members gathered Yesterday, Chof Ches Sivan, for a siyum and celebration of learning for the entire Mesechta Bava Kamma Baal Peh.

This celebration was held after more than 25 Bochurim participated in a written farher on the entire Mesechta – all 119 Daf! Over the course of the year Hatomim Mendy Silberberg, of Mexico City, tirelessly directed this Mivtza Torah campaign to encourage talmidim to add in limud HaTorah. Numerous written tests and farhers were given at various stages, culminating in yesterday’s siyum. Certificates and monetary incentives were awarded to those who excelled in this remarkable achievement.

Among the speakers, Rabbi Chaim Schapiro, Menahel of the Yeshiva, opened the event with a letter the Rebbe sent to the bochurim of Morristown who completed, Mesechta Kesubos in 1986. Rabbi Moshe Herson, Dean of the Rabbinical College of America, addressed those gathered with encouraging remarks for additional students to undertake this challenge and monumental accomplishment – learning the entire Mesechta.

The yeshiva was also privileged to honor Hatomin Menachem Mendel Schapiro who at the young age of just 17, made a Siyum on the entire Shas Bavli! Over the past few years, Mendy would start his day at 6am and end well into the night to have extra sedorim in Gemoro. The entire Rabbinical College of America is proud of the commitment and dedication it took for Mendy to finish the entire Shas!

The gathering was honored to hear inspiring words from guest speaker Rabbi Gedaliah Oberlander, of Monsey, who highlighted the importance of limud HaTorah and its nourishment for Jewish life. Rabbi Oberlander praised the Choshuve Hanhola of Morristown, whom with he is well acquainted, for their high caliber of learning and dedication to Talmidim. He concluded by affectionately saying “It is a Zechus to learn in this Yeshiva.”

The awards were generously dedicated in memory of Horav Mordechai Tzvi Ben R’ Chaim Yosef Shlomo Greenwald A”H.
